Project Engineer - Civil

Austin Tyler Construction is seeking a motivated individual to join our company as a Project Engineer.  This candidate’s role will be to work closely with our Project Management team to assist in project planning, startup, job status tracking and ultimately project closeout.  A Project Engineer will assist in procurement of material, pricing analysis and cost comparisons, field quantity tracking, and communication with Owners & Engineering staff, project scheduling, and punchlist.

A Project Engineer role at Austin Tyler Construction will require experience in the civil & heavy/highway construction industry.  This candidate should be an effective communicator, ability to multitask, ability to prioritize management responsibilities on a weekly basis, well versed in Microsoft Office software’s.

Project Engineer Responsibilities:

• Assist Project Managers with job start up including pricing & order material, tracking material lead times, determining subcontractor & scope reviews, submitting material certifications, providing job information sheets to superintendents.
• Tracking month progress on each job including field quantities.  Reviewing field quantities with the client or Engineer’s staff to determine any discrepancies.
• Establishing effective project communication with the Owner or Engineer.
• Identifying problems in the field in comparison to the plans or specifications, developing a plan, submitting request for information, and resolving any field conflicts.
• Facilitating change orders when needed and coordinating with the Owner or Engineer on the budget & scheduling impacts.
• Identifying and developing new opportunities with clients.
• Obtaining Owner or Engineer’s acceptance of project deliverables.

Project Engineer Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field or significant resume background to suffice.
• Experience in the construction industry is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to multitask and manage working with multiple project management staff members and on multiple projects at once.
• Submittals, change orders, pay requests, request for information experience.
• Experience in ordering materials, scheduling subcontractors, project scheduling, quantity documentation, material certifications, final closeout documentation.
