Job Summary
Provides general medical care and treatment to patients in accordance with collaborative prescribing guidelines.
Essential Functions
- Performs physical examinations and preventative health measures, as well as orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests.
- Formulates comprehensive health management plans for patients in collaboration with physicians,
- pharmacists, and other medical professionals.
- Prescribes and/or recommends medications and treatments to patients.
- Provides physician and pharmacist referrals to patients in need of further medical care and services.
- Participates in Pharmacy Health Services and Harrison School of Pharmacy meetings, functions, events, and committees, as well as in a team of interdisciplinary health care providers.
- Provides education and instruction to residents and students on primary care practices and topics in advanced clinical courses.
- Contributes to the development, implementation, and expansion of Pharmacy Health Services programs and initiatives.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master of Science degree from an accredited institution (except those certified prior to 1992)
- Field of Study Nursing
- 2 years of experience
- Work experience as a nurse practitioner
Minimum Skills and Abilities
- strong knowledge of nursing practices and procedures
- ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
- strong customer service skills
Minimum Technology Skills
- Ability to learn and use multiple medical software programs
Minimum License and Certifications Completion of Nurse Practitioner certificate program and qualified to practice as a Nurse Practitioner as defined under Section 610-X-5 of the Alabama Board of Nursing Administrative Code is required.
Salary Range $68,700 - $114,500
