Job Description

We currently have a requirement for Intermediate AND Senior PLC Programmers to join our team. We have locations in Clarkston, Shelby Township and Livonia. The purpose of the PLC Programmer is to program, develop and troubleshoot PLC controlled automation systems designed for the manufacturing environment with an emphasis on the automotive industry. The PLC Programmer will report directly to the Engineering/Field Service Manager.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Program PLCs and HMIs in an automotive automation environment utilizing:
  • Allen Bradley ControlLogix based programming software
  • Allen Bradley HMI development software
  • Siemens TIA Portal based PLC and HMI programming software
  • Troubleshoot complex automation with assistance from senior level personnel
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to streamline delivery
  • Follow efficient means and standards to ensure budgets and schedules are met
  • Validate system safeties function as designed


  • Associate Degree / Training Certificate


  • Basic knowledge of Safety PLC Systems and Safety Standards
  • Basic knowledge of communication networks (Ethernet IP, I/O Link)
  • Some experience with robot integration and understanding of robot programming
  • Familiar with safety circuit design

  • Ability to work overtime and travel to Mexico and within the United States
  • Effective working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent judgment and strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand the financial impact of relevant options
  • High energy and the flexibility to perform under short time constraints to meet deadlines
  • Positive attitude and works well as a member of a team
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, disciplined approach to work
