Sign On Bonus: $2k

 

General Nature of Position: Working in shop environment repairing and refurbishing all types of trash and recycling containers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Repair all Front Load containers in accordance to Atlas standards; manage staging area where Front Load bins are staged by the Bin delivery driver, place bins in ready line when complete.

  • Repair all Roll Off boxes in accordance to Atlas standards.
  • Construct, repair and refurbish carts. 

Summary of Other Job Duties:

Keep yard and shop area clean, this may include trash pickup, sweeping and moving containers.

  • Complete weekly inventory of Front Load containers and bin shop supplies on designated inventory sheet.
  • Any and all duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

Qualified in the welding processes such as arc welding, gas welding, aluminum welding, brazing, and soft soldering on a variety of materials.

  • Ability to operate hand tools, hammers, scrapers, wrenches in a safe manner.
  • Performs related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, notching of metal & plastic parts.
  • Works from prints, drawings and verbal instructions.
  • Utilizes standard shop hand tools, measuring devices and equipment.
  • Performs other maintenance related work as required.
  • Completes required paperwork associated with repairing containers, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Ability to pass a certified state of California’s forklift safety course.
  • Familiarity with welding machines, cutting torch and power tools and the ability to use them safely.
  • Ability to paint frontload containers & roll off boxes
  • Ability to understand instructions written and verbal in English.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Atlas / OSHA standards.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, independently or as a team.

 1)   Physical Requirements:

 Possess the mobility to maneuver throughout the building.

  • Possess the mobility to use ladders and forklift equipment.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional manual moving of furniture, equipment and shop supplies.
  • Sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting and other physical requirements as necessary to complete the essential duties and responsibility, and the ability to move containers up to 5 cubic yards on casters, by pushing or pulling manually.

 2)   Education and Experience:

  • Experience: 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid UT driver’s license
  • Basic skills in welding techniques; knowledge of safety procedures and practices necessary while operating or repairing compactors, containers and carts; skill in operating tools, equipment, parts and procedures utilized during the repair and servicing of compactors, containers and carts; skill in repair of special purpose equipment; ability to perform repairs on a variety of compactors ,container and carts.

 

3)   Work Environment:

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity most of the work day.
  • Required to exert physical effort in handling objects frequently.
  • Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns) frequently.
  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements, occasionally.
  • Normal setting for this job is in the repair/maintenance shop.
