Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Operations Manager is to oversee and lead all Technical and Operational team members toward achieving company goals and objectives. This position will require a high performing individual who is a strong problem solver and can multitask in a very fast paced environment. An entrepreneurial approach to this position is highly desired.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and achieve the strategic and annual operating plans of the Installation/Service/Technical departments

• Interview, hire, training, motivate, and manage the assigned departments staff in executing the agreed upon plans and objectives of the company.

• Actively recruit for the best talent available to help the company reach all technical and customer satisfaction goals.

• Participate with new technology launches and suggest new products that could enhance our service offerings to our client base.

• Oversee all purchasing of parts/equipment/supply inventory and distribution. Maintain security of inventory; prevent loss, damage, theft of inventory both in the warehouse and on job sites. Ensure proper inventory practices are maintained within company standards. Verify reconciliations at the end of each month to assure accountability.

• Manages fleet maintenance program and all fleet related activities/incidents.

• Monitor construction team relationships and management of trade partners, ensuring a high level of communication and accountability.

• Evaluate month end management reports to assess technician productivity, profits and losses, project efficiency, quality, and adherence to technical standards.

• Assist the sales department on technical sales questions and bidding as requested by Sales Manager.

• Ensures the successful creation and routine deployment of regimented technical training programs to ensure our technicians are trained and certified in all major products and services. Conduct regularly scheduled department meetings to assure proper communication and safety training.

• Manage/oversee Installation Department responsibilities o Ensures Installation projects are scheduled according to construction schedules and customers expectations. o

  • Ensures all installations are completed on time and on budget
  • Ensures internal and external change order processes are executed in a timely fashion with proper approvals
  • Attains revenue goals, monthly and annually, in accordance with established standards, while complying with budgeted expense targets.

• Manage/oversee Service Department responsibilities

  • Works closely with Service Manager to ensure all service tickets and inspections are scheduled according to the appropriate priority and service agreements expectations.
  • Responsible for weekly on call calendar and all supervisory responsibilities of each on call technician 365/24/7
  • Ensures tickets are completed in a timely fashion with accuracy to minimize go backs.
  • Attains revenue goals, monthly and annually, in accordance with established standards, while complying with budgeted expense targets.

• Manges/oversees Customer Service Department responsibilities

• Conduct self in a professional manner always. Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent information as defined in the personnel manual.

• Maintain a positive and caring atmosphere for all employees consistent with our policies and business ethics. Managerial style should be of a coaching and training mentality in compliance with Executive Managements expectations.

Required Knowledge Base, Skills, & Abilities:

• Candidates should have a proven track record of managing both exempt and non-exempt personnel in a technical industry.

• Strong Project Management experience

• Previous experience with Commercial construction

• Strong organizational skills

• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• Knowledge of Burglary, Fire, Access, and CCTV systems highly recommended.

• Knowledge of IP based Security Industry Products highly recommended.

• Strong understanding of Internet Protocol and Network Products is Highly Recommended (switches, routers, firewalls, IP addressing, PoE, etc.…)

• Strong oral and written communication skills, customer service, time-management, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.

• Proficient in computers and software applications that include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, etc.

• CA Fire Life Safety Certified and/or NICET a plus
