Research Associate I, Downstream Process Development

The Contract Research Associate I, Downstream Process Development will support scientists in executing experiments to develop novel and robust purification processes for adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors. As part of the Early Research Process Development group, s/he will collaborate with Upstream Process Development, Analytical Process Development, Vector Core and late-stage process development teams.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Support downstream process development scientists in experiment preparation and execution.
• Perform routine downstream unit operations including depth filtration, tangential flow filtration and column chromatography in support of Downstream Development activities.
• Provide general lab support and consumables management.
• Communicate project updates and technical reports to manager.
• Follow and draft standard operating procedures for laboratory techniques or processes.
• Collect and report data from experiments to supervising scientist(s).
• Learn new downstream methods and techniques.

Desired Education and Skills:

• BS in Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a relevant scientific or engineering discipline with 1-5 years of hands-on industrial experience, or MS with 1-2 years of industry experience is required.

• Hands-on experience with buffer preparation, depth filtration, column chromatography, TFF, or other relevant protein purification skills is strongly preferred.
