Determine shipping requirements for major equipment asphalt sales by coordinating with relevant functional areas, i.e., Engineering, Sales, Production, and Shipping.
Calculate critical dimensions and weights on major asphalt equipment by understanding the equipment, manipulating models, reviewing field drawings, and leveraging historical data.
Support delivery meetings
Collect, organize, and retain historical bid/actual data for all major equipment quoted and shipped for North American customers.
Responsible for RFQ process and selecting carrier(s). Coordinate with multiple carriers, as appropriate.
Analyze and validate freight invoices are complete and accurate.
Measure functional metrics to evaluate and improve the overall process.
Ensure Astec has, and maintains, visibility of all freight charges (i.e., freight, permits, detention, etc.).
Negotiate freight rates.
Manage any claims that result from damage, delays or charges related to the transportation of equipment.
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with Engineering, Sales, Production, and Shipping.
Work directly with customers, vendors, and other Astec departments as required.
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity at all times.
Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing to, or using for benefit of 3rd parties.
Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or related field is preferred, and at least (2) years of related experience in heavy haul.
Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts, to include fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Professional Experience with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Work, & PowerPoint. Knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
3D CAD experience preferred. Willingness to learn required.
Familiar with international set of trade terms (INCOTERMS)
Good telephone etiquette is required with the ability to handle customer/employee calls.
Ability to work under pressure and deadlines is required.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team is required.
Must be able to meet regular attendance requirements.
