Overview

At AssuredPartners, our Rockville, MD, office is growing! We are hiring for an Account Manager who specializes in working with 401K accounts. As an Account Manager, you will provide advanced client support, including comprehensive account management for a book of business, from proposal through evaluation of risk and industry changes. The position requires a significant degree of independent judgment and discretion and is responsible for developing others through formal and informal leadership and mentoring. In accordance with the seniority of the role, the Account Manager possesses advanced product, recordkeeper, and compliance knowledge and remains informed of industry changes in these areas.

What You'll Do

  • Client Support
  • Leads meetings with clients, including meetings at client locations.
  • Responsible for providing comprehensive client support and acts as main client contact for book of business. Provides proactive support on specific initiatives which deliver unique value through the execution of client specific business plans, service timelines, and corporate communications
  • Effectively manages difficult client communications, including changes in investments, eligibility, match formulas, and other plan-related issues.
  • Support client retention by maintaining a positive relationship and image with clients.
  • Account Management
  • Prepares and leads Employee Education meetings and strategies with internal and external teams
  • Prepares for and leads Investment Committee meetings with internal and external teams for clients.
  • Reviews and supports enrollment, benchmarking, and utilization data for clients based on the client's established goals.
  • Team leads on Recordkeeper changes and is the primary liaison between Client and Recordkeeper.
  • Negotiates and implements plan design changes with Recordkeepers or additional non-Qualified plans as needed.
  • Owns all Compliance Support for an assigned business book with Recordkeeper and Client.
  • Analyzes data to draft client service plans, stewardship reports, and other meaningful reports tailored to the client's needs and circumstances of the presentation.
  • Support maintenance of agency management, communication, and other tools.
  • Industry Expertise
  • Develops and maintains strong personal relationships with appropriate Recordkeeper and TPA personnel. Proficient in enrollment and program guidelines; can negotiate with providers as needed.
  • Fluent in the client's industry and current events that can modify the plan needs
  • Reviews changes in Recordkeeper offerings and policies and relays information to the larger service team
  • Leadership
  • Mentors or formally directs the work of more junior team members as needed and educates regional account management and producer teams on corporate retirement planning.
  • Facilitates and collaborates with account teams on the agency's strategies for organic growth and adding corporate retirement planning to their total reward strategy
  • Client Strategy
  • Provides clients with tailored corporate retirement programs and reviews investment management and performance. Identifies and explains gaps in retirement programs. Works with the producer to write new business.
  • Educates clients concerning the regulatory environment and assists clients with compliance issues as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Some travel may be required.

What You'll Need

  • 3 years of related experience and/or training preferred or demonstrated skills listed below.
  • Current Series 6 required with current Life and Health license, and Series 63 preferred.
  • Experience as primary contact providing comprehensive client support to a group of accounts.
  • Advanced knowledge of available corporate retirement plans based on business and industry; knowledgeable about vertical industry trends and client retention strategies.
  • Skilled at facilitating meetings and delivering presentations to groups
  • Highly developed problem-solving and solution-design skills; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced client support and client advocacy skills
  • Demonstrated leadership through mentoring and guidance of more junior employees
  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office or similar software, including spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Skilled in using agency management software; quickly learning new systems.
