Job Summary

 The Communications Manager has intimate knowledge of the school’s philosophy, goals, mission, curriculum, school development, campus build-out, and advantages of Assets School. 

A key responsibility of the Manager will be to build from the communications/branding campaign for the school curriculum/pedagogy. The goal is to affirm our unique school identity within our internal community as well as to represent and communicate our mission-critical services and education services externally.

The Manager also serves as the Parent Relations Liaison by leading key projects to improve communications with our parent community, the faculty, as well as potential and incoming families.  The Manager /Parent Relations Liaison will work  to create an engaged parent community with Assets Parent Organization and the overall parent community. Additionally, the Manager takes ownership of communications with the media and works to promote our school leaders. This is an exempt position reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement (VPIA).

Duties & Responsibilities

 ∙ This is an in person position and will occasionally require work off hours and weekends due to being responsible for school communications including, but not limited to, COVID communications.

∙ Own the school’s communications calendar and creative style guide.

∙ Oversee the content and layout of the Assets School Website.

∙ Work closely with Faculty and Administrators to know what’s happening around the school and maintain a strategic presence for Assets School on all social media channels.

∙ Working with the Head of School and VPIA, manage all aspects (writing, editing, collection of content, production oversight) of the Assets School Annual Report, parent and constituent newsletter, and special publications for annual events.

 ∙ Partner with teachers on classroom/teacher communications to families.

 ∙ Working with other Administrators, conceive, write and produce marketing materials and manage all print, digital, broadcast, and external marketing.

 ∙ Working with the Head of School and VPIA, preparing content and presentation materials for parent meetings, town-hall meetings and external events.

 ∙ Oversee all media, publicity, and marketing efforts for the school with the support of the VPIA.

 ∙ Develop and maintain the school archive of news items and digital images for use online, in print, and on campus.

 ∙ In collaboration with the Head of School and VPIA, write, develop, update and maintain, plus implement as needed, procedures and protocols for communicating with Families during a crisis.

∙ Attend and staff key school functions, providing photography and writing and posting any news copy and social media coverage of the event with support of the VPIA.

∙ Collect and analyze data regarding marketing and track results to best pursue and concentrate appropriate efforts toward successful outcomes.

∙ Periodically prepare presentations and report efforts and progress to the Board of Trustees as needed.

 ∙ Responsible for coordination and production of written materials associated with Accreditation.

 

Qualifications:

∙ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, marketing, public relations, English, OR equivalent concentration or experience, will be considered.

 ∙ Minimum 3-5 years of experience in communications, marketing, and public relations. ∙Experience with Independent/Private Schools is a plus.

 ∙ Strong photography, design, writing and editing skills. Knowledge of specialty programs for design and video production a plus (photoshop, etc.).

 ∙ Strong team orientation and ability to work collaboratively with all members of the school community.

 ∙ Excellent verbal and written communications skills, public speaking and presentation skills, and interpersonal and interview skills.

∙ Strong technology skills for presentation and database use.
