Job Description

Operator/Laborers are responsible for operating various types of construction equipment, such as excavators, dozers, compactors, and front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete. As a niche company, Aslan Construction encourages employees to be well-rounded in their ability to contribute to the success of projects and requires equipment operators and other personnel to engage in supplemental duties as necessary to ensure the successful completion of projects, including general and skilled labor tasks in addition to equipment operation.

The Operator/Laborer position is a full-time, hourly position. Benefits include medical/dental insurance, 401k with match, yearly boot voucher, and more. Compensation commensurate with experience.

An Operator/Laborer is responsible for:

  • Learning and following safety regulations.

  • Taking actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.

  • Locating underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work.

  • Coordinating machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.

  • Loading and moving dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment.

  • Signaling operators to guide movement of tractor-drawn machines.

  • Repairing and maintaining equipment, making emergency adjustments, or assisting with major repairs as necessary.

  • Cleaning and preparing construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.

  • Loading, unloading, and identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations.

  • Providing assistance to craft workers, such as carpenters, concrete workers, or pipelayers.

  • Lubricating and clean machinery, equipment, and tools.

  • Positioning, joining, aligning, or sealing structural components, such as concrete wall sections or pipes.

  • Digging ditches or trenches, backfilling excavations, or compacting and leveling earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, or rakes.

  • Placing, vibrating, and finishing Concrete.

  • Positioning or dismantling forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.

  • Smoothing or finishing freshly poured concrete, using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered concrete finishing tools.

An Operator/Laborer must have the ability to:

  • Effectively convey information to others.

  • Listen to and understand the information presented.

  • Exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.

  • Quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.

  • See details at close range and at a distance

  • Exert themself physically over long periods of time.

  • Use their abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time.

  • Bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.

  • Make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.

  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

  • Adjust handwheels and depress pedals to control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms.

  • Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers, or depress pedals to operate machines, such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, or backhoes.
