The Position:
The Accountant performs accounting duties including, but not limited to journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, asset schedule maintenance, and preparing summaries of financial performance. Also serves as a key role in the accounts payable process. The accountant works in collaboration with the accounting team to provide accounting and administrative support.
As an Accountant, a typical day might look like:
• Supports Controller and/or Sr. level finance role by providing assistance as directed
• Responsible for reconciling various general ledger accounts
• Assists in month end general ledger closing by performing variance analyses and preparing journal entries (accruals, reclassifications, etc.) as needed
• Performs project and capital asset account analyses
• Acts as a backup to prepare month-end financial spreadsheets
• Must have a strong understanding of and be able to prepare balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows and forecasts.
• Assists with operational and capital budgeting process
• Prepares standard and ad hoc financial analyses
• Assists with audit and other reporting work papers by providing schedules and documentation as requested
• Demonstrates understanding and proficiency in the use of EMR client-server platform
• Additional functions include data collection and entry, development of presentations, spreadsheets and help maintaining data bases
• Participates in regular department huddles and meetings
• Participates in performance improvement events related to accounting functions
• Acts as a backup/resource for team members as appropriate
• Collaborates with other members of the accounting team and other stakeholders within the organization
• Under general direction, examines moderately complex information and/or situations and prepares summary, including recommendations for review byothers
• Performs other duties as assigned
This job might be for you if you have:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required; in lieu of degree equivalent experience up to 6-10 years.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience required.
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accountingprinciples.
• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and costaccounting.
• Highly proficient with accounting software.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, time management skills, written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.
