The Position requires Manufacturing Experience.
We are currently taking applications for the position of Senior Safety Engineer. Individuals with a progressive mind and fluid abilities are encouraged to apply. This candidate must have the ability to work independently on the administration side as well as the training side.
Senior Safety Engineer Responsibilities:
Safety Advisor (Subject Matter Expert) for company
Oversight responsibilities for local security
Technical consultant and advisor in technical and non-technical safety topics, including local and national safety regulations
Coordinate implementation and continuous improvement in safety programs
Directly responsible for corporate and internal safety reporting
Must present the knowledge, confidence and ability to take immediate and appropriate action when an "imminent risk of serious injury" has been identified
Facilitate Safety Process Review Board Meetings
Effectively communicate new initiatives, standards, regulations, significant incidents and management directives to internal and external stakeholders
Lead and/or participate in incident investigations as required
Provide oversight for health and safety training and orientation
Conduct appropriate audits and assessments as required
Conduct Risk evaluations for the plant
Coordinate effectively with the plant medical and security functions
Coordinate effectively with Statutory Authorities, MIOSHA and OHS Representatives as needed
Conduct, facilitate or advise as necessary in Machinery and Equipment Design Reviews and/or buy-offs
Work in cooperation with Health and Safety Representatives to achieve objectives
Advise management as to compliance of the local and national collective bargaining agreements regarding safety topics
Ensure that there is a viable, working ergonomics process for the facility
Senior Safety Engineer Requirements:
BS Degree in Occupational Safety Related discipline (required)
3-5 years Health and Safety Experience in a Manufacturing facility
Must have thorough knowledge of state and national OHSA laws and Codes of Practice
Must have operational knowledge of corporate safety programs for manufacturing
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work as a team
Strong interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills
Ability to guide and influence all levels
Demonstrated conflict management skills
Strong analytical, problem solving and organization skills
Senior Safety Engineer Preferred Skills / Experience:
BS Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Safety.
Understanding of Microsoft Office products and be able to prepare documents using the suite of products.
Ability to travel about 30% and function independently from remote locations.
Ability to pass pre-employment physical.
Able to perform plant analysis with parameters given, be able to adjust to client specific policy as well as stay current on OSHA interpretations.
Excellent communication skills.
