Materials Manager Summary:
o Facilitate corporate purchasing and materials initiatives (PFEP methodology) including common part numbers, supplier managed inventory, consolidated purchasing agreements, supplier reduction and supplier quality certifications.
o Manage materials flow from receiving to shipping
o Develop and monitor the implementation of all policies and practices with regard to material planning, control, and flow
o Lead and manage all procurement and materials management activities including order placement, supplier reduction/evaluation/certification, supplier follow-up, on-site inventory control, advanced shipping notices, price negotiation and compliance with government procurement regulations.
o Control and schedule materials flow to ensure appropriate warehousing and distributing of raw materials, goods-in-process, and finished goods
o Manage make to stock part finished goods inventory buffers to achieve 100% delivery performance to the customer
o Manage make to order part system to allow the product lines to achieve 100% delivery as efficiently as possible through setting the appropriate minimum order quantities and lead times
o Determine priorities to match available supply to demands to achieve established customer contract obligations and operational business goals
o Benchmark world class supplier management systems and implement best practices in division as appropriate.
o Communicate with relevant departments to update their materials needs for production projects and alter material plans and schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
o Understand product line profitability and provide input to maximizing it related to costs associated with functional area
o Provide visionary leadership in establishing a world class logistics system for the Facility.
Materials Manager Qualifications
o 8+ years in Manufacturing Material Management.
o Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Materials Management.
o In-depth knowledge of materials and inventory systems, turns, and material movement
o Above average verbal and written communication skills
o Above average organizational, teamwork, and problem resolution skills
o Ability to develop employees and provide mentoring
o Recognized expert with ability to train others
o Proven experience in developing and implementing continuous improvement programs and systems as related to materials and inventory
o SAP experience desired
o Lean experience preferred
Salary $100,000 a year with relocation assistance.
