Sales Tax Accountant

Job Description:

This role will primarily focus on sales tax-related activities for multiple locations and distribution centers. The Sales Tax Accountant will work alongside our current Tax Accountant, who is responsible for day-to-day sales tax operations but requires assistance with additional projects.

Responsibilities:

• Review sales tax filings for three states.
• Identify any errors, discrepancies, or problems in the filings.
• Make necessary corrections to the filings, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
• Handle amendments for the past two years, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with the team on implementing the Vertex system.
• Assist in the configuration and setup of Vertex for sales tax calculations and reporting.
• Provide support to the current Sales Tax Accountant in day-to-day sales tax activities.
• Assist in researching and resolving sales tax-related issues.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate sales tax reporting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Previous experience working in sales tax accounting or related roles.
• Familiarity with sales tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to analyze sales tax filings and identify discrepancies or errors.
• Proficient in reconciling data and resolving discrepancies.
• Meticulous in reviewing and verifying sales tax information.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness in all filings and amendments.
• Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Prioritize tasks effectively to handle the workload efficiently.
• Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to resolve issues.
• Communicate effectively to ensure smooth project implementation.
