POSITION SUMMARY: Execute the day-to-day operations of the Placement Programs Department. This includes our Rescue Partners Program, Working Cat Program, Project Reachout Program, Community Cat Program and the daily operations of the Transport Team. Build and maintain positive relationships with rescue partners, reachout source partners, customers and internal teams by providing exemplary customer service, timely responses and resources. Transport animals to and from off-site adoption locations, shelter facilities and media/adoption events by driving AHS vehicles.

  2. Execute in the daily duties and responsibilities of the Rescue Partner Program, including sending out the daily email to rescue partners, adding animals to the online portal, responding to all partner inquiries and performing rescue releases to partners.
  3. Execute in the daily duties and responsibilities of the Working Cat Program, including reviewing working cat applications, reviewing working cat candidates, passing candidates to surgery, managing excel spreadsheet of clients/client data and performing working cat releases and deliveries to clients.
  4. Execute the daily duties and responsibilities of the Project Reachout Program, including travelling to shelters in need, transporting animals from shelters in need, performing medical evaluations of animals (TPR, vaccinations, microchipping), maintaining data in shelter software system, responding to all partner inquiries.
  5. Execute in the daily duties and responsibilities of the Transport Team, including coordinating internal transport of animals between AHS locations, building transport lists to AHS locations.
  6. Execute in the daily duties and responsibilities of the Community Cat Program, including reviewing community cat candidates, passing candidates to surgery, providing contact with general public/community cat caregivers, delivering/releasing community cats.
  7. Foster and maintain excellent relationships with Rescue Partners and Project Reachout Partners in the local community and nationwide. In addition, maintain courteous, friendly interpersonal relationships with employees and volunteers within other departments.
  8. Other duties and special projects as assigned.


  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Valid Arizona driver's license
  3. Must be 21 years of age
  4. Previous experience in veterinary field preferred. Ability to perform health checks, TPR exams and vaccinations preferred.
  5. Minimum of two years' experience in providing exemplary customer service. Experience in working with difficult or combative customers a plus.
  6. Must be able to operate in a fast paced and at times stressful environment.
  7. Must be able to handle animals in all conditions.
  8. Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and customer service skills required.
  9. Must demonstrate excellent oral, written and public speaking skills.

Language Skills: Able to speak, read and write English; Spanish language helpful.

Mathematical Skills: Familiarity with cash handling operations is required.

Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary. Proficiency with or able to learn/use Chameleon software and CRM software. Proficiency with multiple social media platforms, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid AZ Driver's License and insurance.

Other Skills, Abilities and Qualifications: Regular attendance. Access to reliable transportation. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals and be able to speak clearly and communicate well with employees and the public.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment: There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment. Tentative schedule is a Wednesday-Sunday work week.
