Rolling Equipment Mechanic/Equipment Operator

Starting Salary: $40.36/ hour

 

The inspection, dismantling, diagnosis, repair, reassembling, servicing and operating of all rolling equipment as assigned.

 

Requirements include:

  • High school education or recognized equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of heavy equipment operation experience.
  • A combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools and equipment of the automotive and diesel mechanical trade.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating principles and mechanics of internal combustion engines and diesel driven equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of application and use of tools, materials, equipment and standard practices of the mechanical trade, including dimensions of standard bolts, screws, threads, tapers, working properties of metals, and tools in the shaping of parts to close tolerances.
  • Ability to use and work with precision tools for the measurement and alignment of motors and related equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to perform general millwright work in the layout, installation and alignment of heavy machinery and equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical repair methods applicable to trucks and diesel equipment.
  • Ability to develop own working specifications and determine special tools or procedures required to complete jobs within the general scope of the trade, including efficient planning of shop work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of occupational hazards and proper safety precautions relative to the trade.
  • Possess skills necessary in the use and care of hand and machine tools utilized in the automotive trade.
  • Must have the physical stamina to perform heavy manual labor as required in the performance of the duties listed.
  • Must be respirator certified.
  • Shall possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Commercial Drivers License (Class B) within six months from date of hire.

 

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) years of automotive and diesel field experience.

 

This position is at the Apache Station facility in Cochise.

Our Wellness Committee offers onsite programs including weight loss programs and a wellness fair. Employees work out at gyms at Apache Station and the Benson headquarters.

Our Communications, Public Relations and Marketing Department is responsible for communication, media relations, and public and Member outreach. The department handles media inquires, organizes tours for the media and the public, issues press releases, produces videos, the annual report and other materials, and contributes articles to the statewide rural electric Currents magazine and other publications including those for employees and directors. In addition, the department handles community support donations.
