Job Summary:

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program Manager will provide leadership and supervision of the development, promotion, implementation and evaluation of Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA), GED/High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation, Transition programming including Digital Literacy classes, Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs, and other programs as appropriate.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Programming and Operations-55%


Coordinate, plan, develop, implement, maintain and evaluate ABE programs

Monitor ABE program to ensure compliance with Federal and State policies and reporting.

Collaborate with teaching staff on student assessments, management of student data and

monitoring of student progress.

Market ABE programs to recruit students and raise community awareness.

Conduct staff and program-based meetings.

Guide the educational direction of the ABE program in collaboration with ABE staff,

Facilitates communication and collaboration amongst partners involved in the development and delivery of programs that impact ABE.

Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant agencies and organizations.

Staff Supervision-25%

Supervise licensed and support staff.

Recruit, hire and retain highly qualified staff.

Evaluate new and current staff and support ongoing professional development.

Work with staff to address students concerns, questions and connect them with community resources.

Grants-5%

Assist with the establishment, administration, and evaluation of annual program budgets.

Work to find additional funding sources and maintains records needed.

Manage supplies, materials and equipment for the program and purchases as needed.

Assure correct reporting of student hours for state funding.

Ensure all spending complies with federal, state and district guidelines.

Student Support-5%

Provide information and guidance to potential students regarding class schedules, testing guidelines and other ABE opportunities.

Work with teachers to advise current students on establishing educational goals.

Professional Development-10%

Maintain active memberships in professional organizations.

Attends meetings, in-services, and workshops as needed.


Work Requirements and Characteristics:

Education/Certification Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
  • Able to obtain or currently hold an Arizona Adult Education Teaching Certification
  • Valid Arizona Level II fingerprint clearance card, valid Arizona Driver's License and use of insured personal vehicle for agency business

Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience in adult education, program development and administration is preferred.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience overseeing a multi-level organization structure that includes a mix of direct reports and indirect reports with a proven track record for navigating complex employee issues quickly and effectively is preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in effectively employing continuous improvement strategies proven to work in education settings and using data regularly to improve programs is preferred.

Background Check

Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and how recent. The background check will consist of a reference checks, employment, education, and criminal background search.
