This role is responsible for key components of the beamtime access system, which includes but is not limited to macromolecular crystallography review process, mail\-in review process and other key proposal functions\. The role is also responsible for the full administration of the three\-times annual meetings of the 13 Proposal Review Panels, the Beam Time Allocation Committee, the Partner User Proposal Review Committee, along with the annual meeting of the General User Advisory Committee\. This role includes communications and planning with all committee members and logistics \(including travel reimbursement\)\.
The administrator will also manage the statistics and reporting for the BES annual survey, the DOE Projects database report, the facility user satisfaction survey, and any other DOE data requests\. This role requires a working knowledge of the use of relational databases \(Business Objects\) and requires adherence to DOE and BES reporting guidelines\.
This role will work as part of a team as a fully functional back up for the key User Office functions of User Agreements Administrator \(master user agreements\), User accounts payable & receivable and proprietary accounting, and the Beam Time Access System administrator \(the general user proposal system\)\.
An understanding of both APS and ANL policies and procedures as well as an understanding of the various user interfaces and systems are strongly preferred\. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products with strong computer skills to be able to use multiple user\-related Oracle database applications\. Considerable ability to work independently to organize workload and establish priorities when handling complex situations and heavy workloads\. Considerable ability to proactively identify issues and recommend solutions\. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills to maintain working relationships with individuals at varying levels within and outside of the Laboratory\. Knowledge of Argonne's standard business systems and practices preferred\. Will be required to obtain an HSPD 12 badge\.

Integrations across Lab and Impacts:
The proposal review process is a critical component to the functioning of the APS user facility\. Peer review of scientific proposals is a key DOE requirement, and accurate and timely management of the process is crucial: the subject matter experts that comprise the panel memberships are providing voluntary, professional services to the facility and their efforts must be supported in a professional manner, including scheduling, meeting details, travel\. The APS is required to provide a variety of reports to DOE and BES\. These data must be accurate and complete\. Failure to adhere to the reporting requirements or to meet reporting deadlines would have a strong, negative impact on the APS\.This role will have significant interactions with a variety of Laboratory level organizations and systems, including Legal, Accounting, all APS user interfaces \(proposals, safety, user database, registration, Portal, etc\.\)\.
