Location: Dillehunt hall

Duration: 08/05/2019 TO 09/05/2019

Pay Rate $55

Work shift Four 10-hour days, within Monday – Friday. Hours will fall within 7:30am-7:30pm, actual hours and days TBD.

DESCRIPTION

Qualified applicants will have graduated from an AAPA certified program and have passed the ASCP certification test. Experience with Beaker AP and Dragon strongly preferred. Primary responsibilities will be gross dissection of specimens. No autopsy duties will be assigned.

This position is under the overall supervision of the Department Chair, and the direct supervision of the Vice Chair for Anatomic Pathology. The appointee shall provide services, as assigned by the supervisor, in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

The duties include: Manage tissue handling and most other activities in the gross pathology facilities in Surgical Pathology; assume varied responsibilities for gross dissection, description and case management, depending on resident staffing levels; ensure that most urgent cases are handled first and special studies are properly handled; maintain tissue banking and databases, coordinate with study coordinators, operating rooms and Biolibrary and Knight Tissue Bank lab; direct maintenance and technical operations of frozen sections areas; provide instruction, training and supervision to residents, student fellows, and PA students in gross dissection, dictation, frozen section preparation and gross pathology; and perform other activities, as needed.

Qualified applicants will have graduated from an AAPA certified program and have passed the ASCP certification test. Strong candidates will also demonstrate an aptitude for teaching, excellent professional interpersonal and communication skills, and competency in current laboratory and office technology.
