Job Description

Arete, an employee-owned company, is a growing research and development firm recognized for contributing to national security objectives by supplying innovative solutions to challenging technical problems faced by the United States.  Our Arlington, VA office has an immediate opening for a Senior Industrial Security Officer / Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO) reporting to the Program Senior CPSO and/or Director of Security. This is an exempt non-supervisory full-time position.    

SUMMARY:

The successful candidate will develop and administer security programs and procedures by managing the “day-to-day” security operations for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) activities. Seeking an energetic new team member with experience as primarily a Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO). The successful candidate will leverage their experience in security policy, facility protection, and risk management to ensure the security of our SCIF’s and SAPF’s

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead risk management processes to protect classified materials.
  • Oversee Special Access Program security and implement SAP security policies, procedures, directives, and requirements. Also serve as back-up role for SCI efforts.
  • Verify materials are classified IAW appropriate Security Classification Guides (SCG); handled and stored appropriately in GSA approved security containers.
  • Perform duties required as Top Secret Control Officer (TSCO).
  • Maintain familiarity with physical security standards for the construction and protection of SCIFs as proscribed in ICD-705.
  • Maintain Operations Security (OPSEC) principles critical for protecting operational activities and security of the SAPF.
  • Conduct and annotate entry/exit inspections to deter unauthorized removal of classified information in accordance with DoDM 5205.07-V-3.
  • Manage Government compartment management databases and networks.
  • Prepare and coordinate security-related briefings and training materials.
  • Perform administrative and logistical processing for the Visitor Control Function.
  • Strong knowledge and use of Department of Defense systems and applications which may include: DISS, NISS (ISFD, OBMS, SWIFT, STEPP and eFCL), and ACCS.
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of DD Form 254’s.
  • Establish and maintain Security Management files, to include Personnel Security.
  • Manage all the physical aspects of the SAPF (alarms, badge access, monitoring, etc.)
  • Identify and assist with investigations of any security violations and/or suspected compromise.
  • Maintain a high level of both external and internal customer service with both Government security officers, Prime contractors and Areté employees.

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 8 years of experience (CPSO) with Bachelors; or 6 years with Masters; or 12 years of experience as a SAP Security Officer with no degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI access. Clearance based on investigation current within the last five years.
  • Experience in SAP and SCI security policies, procedures, directives, and requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of NISPOM, DCID, ICD, JSIG, DoDM 5200.01 & 5205.07 series, and the aspects specific to the execution of the Industrial Security Program.
  • Strong knowledge of all three security domains – Collateral, SAP, and SCI
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; Attention to detail
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Must be able to multi-task and handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Self-Starter requiring minimal supervision.
  • Ability to plan, schedule and arrange activities to accomplish objectives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Current Polygraph (CI or Full Scope)
  • DISS and NISS completion of training courses
  • Completion of DCSA FSO training courses
  • Completion of SCIF buildout courses
  • Completion of SAP training courses
