SUMMARY The Asset Servicing Associate is responsible for the day to day post settlement maintenance of all securities traded by the firm. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to: Associate Vice President, Investment Operations PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate and review the processing of all daily loan servicing events, including daily borrowing request Act as primary back up for loan restructure and corporate action oversight and processing Direct third-party fund administrators and custodian banks on appropriate processing and review/reconcile processing output for accuracy Proactively research, resolve and prevent all loan servicing cash breaks and act as 1st point of escalation for high risk breaks Handle loan servicing related audit request Work with all internal and external stakeholders to improve and enhance asset servicing workflows Prepare daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly KPIs Review daily recons between internal systems and third parties and resolve discrepancies, including MLR discrepancies Manage loan subscription process in WSO Oversight of the offshore team, identify areas for improvement and maintain record of any issues. Review and reconcile loan related fee bookings Maintain high standard of quality controls Influencing and participating in decisions on policies/procedures designed to ensure compliance with internal, legal and regulatory policies and ensure changing business requirements are met Contribute ideas and recommendations to improve process efficiencies and increase risk mitigation Participate in meetings representing recon and participate in department initiatives such as system enhancements, off hours testing and new business conversions as necessary QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Finance or related discipline Required Knowledge: Strong fixed-income product knowledge, particularly bank loans Strong understanding of the bank loan industry and standards Understanding of custodian bank/administrator's and agent's data Strong knowledge of fixed income assets Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word Knowledge of Wall Street Office, Geneva and VPM (preferred) General Requirements: Minimum 3 years of investment management operations experience with high emphasis on bank loan operations Experience working with an outsource/offshore service provider Experience working with custodian and agent banks Skills/Abilities: Extremely detailed oriented with a proven track record for accuracy A self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organization and time management skills Strong control focus and ability to challenge streamline processes COMPANY DESCRIPTION Ares Management Corporation ("Ares" or the "Firm") is a publicly traded, leading global alternative asset manager with approximately $137 billion of assets under management ("AUM") and over 1,000 employees.
