Department: Purchasing

Reports to: Purchasing Manager

Job Summary:

The Purchasing Planner/Buyer will handle various tasks related to the inward movement of product, parts, and raw materials. They will have daily communication with supply base, internal interaction with product line and business managers, along with associated departments to ensure the whole goods and material supply chain remain intact without disruption. This person will need to be able to understand, predict, and enhance material planning using analytical and quantitative methods. This position will support purchasing, scheduling, planning, and operations by assembling data, analyzing performance, identifying problems, and developing recommendations.

Job Duties:

  • Perform purchasing function such as placing PO, acknowledging supplier confirmation, managing products ready dates, and resolving receiving discrepancies
  • With product development team to support non-inventory purchasing activities such as tooling, samples and prototypes as needed to launch new products
  • Analyze and plan product and raw material needs based on forecast and production schedule periodically to ensure inventory availability
  • Communicate and collaborate with inside sales, suppliers, and R&D to ensure inventory are available in season and delivered on time
  • Review product lead times, minimum order requirements, seasonality, and sales volume by SKU to determine order frequency while maintaining lean inventory
  • Plan products and raw material in accordance with corporate metrics for On-Time Delivery and Inventory Turns
  • Support quotes, contracts, RFQs, and cost standards for budget plan
  • Drive process improvement activities through purchasing to minimize errors and touch points
  • Assist with other supply chain analysis and initiatives as needed

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel;
  • Experience with ERP Systems including manufacturing modules (e.g. MRP, MPS, and WMS) desired
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multi-level personnel as well as suppliers, customers, and their representatives
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, convey complex issues, and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think quickly and handle frequent change
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented, quality driven, and capable of working independently with little supervision

Education: 2 year degree in a supply chain related discipline and/or 3 equivalent years of experience

Duration of Employment: Full Time

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift at least 30lbs
  • Must be able to sit for over 4 hours at a time.

Work Days: Monday – Friday

Hours / Day: 8

Work Shift: First Shift

Travel: Minimal travel is required
