Job Description

The Vivarium Manager at Aragen will be an organized and detail-oriented member of our In Vivo Efficacy Testing team. This team member will oversee an efficient and compliant Vivarium facility. The successful candidate will be willing to collaborate, adapt, seek continuous operational optimization and be able to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will also provide oversight of activities in an animal research facility and provide staff guidance with regard to participation and planning support for designated in vivo study activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manage core vivarium operational activities, including animal husbandry.

· Responsible for procurement of vivarium-related items including purchase and receipt of rodents, cages, feed and other items necessary for day-to-day operations.

· Coordinate with in vivo team to help plan and schedule studies, ensuring that resources and staff are in place.

· Provide additional hands-on support for studies including in vivo procedures.

· Collaborate with Attending Veterinarian on protocols and resident care as needed.

· Assist in the development of a training plan for users in the vivarium. Supervise training and documentation for vivarium staff and serve as technical resource for in vivo procedures.

· Harmonize safety processes/procedures, signage and trainings for all in vivo research activities.

· Ensure vivarium environmental conditions and animal usage are monitored, recorded and in compliance with protocols and guidance.

· Participate as member of the IACUC; ensure vivarium readiness for IACUC and AAALAC inspections.

· Collaborate with Facilities Department to ensure that vivarium equipment is maintained in good working condition and that facilities are maintained in a clean and orderly condition.

· Collaborate with Quality Department to develop and maintain vivarium SOPs, policies, and guidelines in compliance with animal care and use protocol, IACUC, and AAALAC guidance.



· Bachelor degree or higher in a life science and at least 5 years of relevant experience in Pharma or Biotech industries; or associate degree in any of the life sciences and at least 7 years of relevant experience.

· AALAS certification at the LAT level or higher is preferred.

· Hands-on experience with barrier animal facilities or ABSL2 is preferred.

· Good computer skills and a working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word are required
