PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Aptiv Youth Service Mentor I/Lead Staff will provide supportive services to youth and adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental disorders. Youth Service Mentors implement individualized services consisting of Individual Skill Development and mentoring in a small group, or one on one setting. This position supports the individual needs of adults and youth with varying abilities and behavioral challenges. The position is an important component of a larger support team, providing individualized interventions developed to support continued skill and social development, encouraging independence and personal goal attainment.
Must have a valid driver's license with access to reliable transportation and state of Wisconsin minimum auto insurance

- Associates, Bachelor's degree or comparable experience preferred
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE EXAMPLES
Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders preferred. Previous experience providing supportive interventions for youth/ adolescents presenting challenging behavior desired.
Previous experience in providing professional services utilizing appropriate behavioral interventions and promoting individual skill development. Previous experiences, training or education in areas of recovery concepts, consumer rights, and consumer centered individual treatment planning, mental illness, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, psychotropic medications and side effects, functional assessment, local community resources, adult vulnerability and consumer confidentiality.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Working under the supervision of the program Service Leader and in partnership with behavior support and Outcome Specialist teams, Youth Service Mentor I/Lead Staff will effectively utilize clinical intervention techniques to facilitate progress towards identified individual service goals.
Youth Service Mentor I/Lead Staff will demonstrate consistency in service provision, to include exceptional attendance, effective communication techniques utilizing technology systems as well as interpersonal communication and ability to support individualized service plans through appropriate interventions.
Youth Service Mentor I/Lead Staff will effectively support the participant's larger service team by demonstrating a commitment to effective documentation and communication of interventions and outcomes.
Aptiv Youth Service Mentors provide direct support to youth and adults that may display verbal and physical aggression that require application of appropriate behavioral intervention techniques to ensure safety of participants and staff members.
Youth Mentors may work in a structured small group setting, in participants homes and in the larger community, affording staff members the opportunity to support development in each area based upon participant need. Youth Service Mentor I/Lead Staff may be requested to attend participant staffing's at the discretion of Youth Service Leader and Outcomes Specialist.
Additional Responsibilities may include one, or more, of the following program support functions.
Under the supervision of Youth Service Leader, Youth Service Mentor I/Lead Staff will assist in the development and updating of goals and protocols in participant files. Be the lead communicator with direct staff to inform on participant specific information. Assure the quality and accuracy of authorizations and scheduled hours.
Youth Service Mentor I/Lead Staff will provide support to the Youth Service Leader in completion of program operation tasks including; participant transportation coordination, new staff orientation/training, Youth Services on-call phone and documentation compliance support and training.
Maintain professional relationships/boundaries with participants ensuring consistency in services and safety for vulnerable adults and youth. Attend each scheduled participant contact, or make alternative arrangements per program policy 100% of the time.
Complete required clinical intervention documentation utilizing case management software system within the designated time frame 100% of the time. Provide professional and appropriate clinical behavioral intervention techniques that promote participant attainment of specified individual goals 100% of the time.Uphold Aptiv's values in service excellence by completing required training, demonstration of core competency and effective utilization of administrative systems within 90 days of employment. Continued training must be completed by the dates due.PHYSICAL/SENSORY/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS
Work time will be spent in the home, community or work setting assisting the participants in achieving their development plan goals. Mobility within the rural and urban community is required on a daily basis. Occasionally required to sit at a desk or in meetings for an extended period of time. Ability to present information and respond to questions from participants, staff, and the general public when speaking on the phone, corresponding on the computer or in face-to-face interactions.
Lifting weights of up to 20 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally, required at some work sites. Lifting requirements may change according to each work site and task. Bending and walking required regularly. Uses hearing and vision with the ability to collaborate and orchestrate in a variety of environments. Vision required for operation of motor vehicles for transport. Regular use of fine motor skills for writing or typing.
Regularly will concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously along with the capacity to respond calmly and quickly to emergency situations required. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Capacity to differentiate between various levels of confidentiality and act accordingly.
Work is performed in the home, community, and work settings with varied conditions. Outdoor travel required on a daily basis. Staff are expected to work in an environment with participants who can be verbally and/or physically aggressive to staff, other participants, community members and themselves. Aptiv provides training and support to prevent, de-escalate and manage these incidents, but cannot guarantee complete absence of such occurrences.
