Junior Vulnerability Analyst

Duties

  • Interface with Security Control Assessors, System Owners and System Administrators

  • Develop and produce metrics and reporting on the state of system security, threat, vulnerability, and patch management

  • Conduct Vulnerability Scanning for servers, applications, databases and other systems as required

  • Analyze vulnerability scanning results and identify critical security flaws

  • Analyze scanning results for ranking based on threat severity

  • Conduct Risk Assessment for changes to the servers, applications and systems

  • Assist in the planning for Risk Mitigation

  • Conduct network security audits and scanning on a predetermined basis

  • Use manual testing techniques and methods to gain a better understanding of the environment and reduce false negatives

  • Develop, test and modify custom scripts and applications for vulnerability testing

  • Manually validate report findings to reduce false positives

  • Compile and track vulnerabilities over time for metrics purposes

  • Write and present a comprehensive Vulnerability Assessment

  • Review and define requirements for information security solutions

  • Supply hands-on training for network and systems administrators

  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Cyber tools

  • Stay up-to-date in current tools, techniques, and vulnerabilities to incorporate into testing practices

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related fields, or one year directly related work experience

  • Understand the basics of penetration testing – network, web application, application/code review

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a tester

  • Practical knowledge with testing tools

    • Burp Suite Pro (preferred) or equivalent application testing software

  • Practical knowledge in manual and automated testing

  • Certifications (OSCP, CASP or equivalent preferred) or ability to obtain within one year of hire date

  • Experience with Cloud and virtual environment security

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (written, verbal, and presentation) with peers, business and executive levels from both a technical and non-technical perspective

  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to learn rapidly and apply advanced and emerging technical security principles, theories and concepts in a fast-paced environment
