Essential Duties:
- Perform tiers 0-3 problem resolution in all Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) IS systems.
- Record, update, track, report, and otherwise use provided tools and methods, such as REMEDY, to document problems and resolutions.
- Proficient in current and legacy operating systems for workstations and should possess a fundamental understanding of current and legacy server operating systems and client/server relationships including trusts and account permissions.
- Performs first line support for user applications.
- The contractor help desk technician must; and must be able to perform software updates and patches to workstations and IS devices (tablets, laptops, printers, etc.).
- Learn and be able to successfully install, configure, troubleshoot, patch, upgrade, and fix a variety of Air Force, DHA and medical installed applications.
- Troubleshoot and provide fixes for nonfunctional software and computer tools.
- Solve all computer aspects of hardware related problems and be able to install, repair, replace, or upgrade most computer components; this includes computer peripherals and printers.
- Liaise with support vendors or manufacturers to provide either the material or maintenance on warranted hardware.
- Coordinate all equipment, hardware, and maintenance request for unwarranted computer related hardware with Government personnel.
- Possess, maintain, and learn rudimentary networking fundamentals and technologies including but not limited to: TCP/IP, VOIP, broadband, telephony, and legacy or analog systems and be able to perform basic network analysis and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate network changes and problems with Government technicians, the network control center (NCC), and/or the AF Network Operations and Support Center (NOSC), Medical Enterprise Service Desk and the DHA Global Support Center and will request their assistance when appropriate.
- Tone, repair/replace network cabling and make network connections and configurations on the local area network (LAN), the virtual private network (VPN), the local government and commercial wireless LANs, approved AF/DHA domains, and telephone networks.
- The contractor help desk technician may be assigned telephone control office (TCO) and/or Personal Wireless Communications Systems (PWCS) duties.
Minimum Experience, Education and Certification:
- At least 2 years’ experience in IT Helpdesk
- High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency, along with the completion of coursework in an IT training program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Security+ CE certification
- Possess an intermediate working knowledge of basic IS application and computer tool functionality, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Java, Adobe Pro/Reader and Flash
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with end-users, Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 95% of the time.
Work Environment:
Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead waist level from floor), bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use; frequently fast paced environment.
