While performing the duties of this job, the employee will operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with end-users, Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 95% of the time.
Work Environment:
Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead waist level from floor), bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use; frequently fast paced environment.

Essential Duties:
- Provision, configure and maintain Linux systems, including routine and complex administration, security, patching, local firewall, antivirus, backup/restore
- Provide technical support to the Operations and Engineering divisions in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Work with engineering teams to optimize system performance, including applications, network, storage, database and server technology
- Solve complex technical systems issues, including Operating System, web, database, and applications servers, DNS, LDAP, SMTP, etc.
- Develop process and technical documentation, including systems architecture diagrams
- Diagnose, isolate, troubleshoot, and solve technical issues
- Perform Linux patching in accordance with customer requirements and security notifications
- Create, test, and maintain Linux shell scripts
- Work with other Operations technical teams to support critical deployments, new initiatives, application upgrades, and general Linux support
- Analyze systems to determine technical requirements that satisfy business requirements
- Lead the evaluation, selection and deployment of new technologies and tools on Linux platforms
- Ensure completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure necessary to support system performance objectives
- Perform technical analysis and review of new technologies and identify potential benefits to the customers enterprise environment
- Perform daily system administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Linux systems
- Participate in requirements working sessions and perform code reviews
- Support project management tasks across multiple simultaneous project deployments.
- Generate weekly technical team status reports in accordance with standard processes.
- Coordinate the review, presentation and release of design layouts, project plans, analysis and other technical team documentation.
- Ensure deliverables are prepared to meet quality standards and in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Ensure deliverables are prepared in a format to satisfy the project requirements, costs and schedule.
- Brief senior leadership on the technical status of projects and tasks
- Experience implementing DOD DISA STIGs
Minimum Experience, Education and Certification:
- BS in Computer Science/Computer Information Systems/Engineering Degree or similar or 7+ years of relevant experience. (At the Governments discretion years of experience may be substituted in lieu of certifications or degree.)
- 5+ years of Linux administration is required
- 3 or more years of professional experience in virtualized architectures in VMWare or Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure and Google preferred)
- Knowledge of clustering services, load balancing and replication services
- Demonstrated experience in creating documentation of designs and solution.
- Exposure to application, database, storage and network configuration within a Linux operating system administration.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex enterprise solutions to internal staff and customer
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:
- System engineering (5 years)
- Linux/Shell scripting (5 years)
- Application Deployment Experience (2 years)
- RHSA &/or RHCE
