Job Description

In the role of the Workers’ Compensation & Employee Benefits Coordinator, the coordinator will support these departments within the company. While performing all transactional duties in relation to workers compensation claims and administering health & welfare benefits, the coordinator may assist in the counseling of employees regarding a worker’s compensation claim or the use of employee benefits. The coordinator may assist in delivering benefits orientation to new employees. To be a successful coordinator, a candidate must maintain confidential information regarding the personal and medical history of the company’s employees.

Duties of the position

  • Workers’ Compensation responsibilities

    • Coordinate workers’ compensation claims with third-party administrator and ensures claims are managed appropriately

    • Will assist in the areas of Workplace Safety, workers' compensation, vehicle safety, and the Employee Damage Program

    • Will be responsible for claims intake, monitoring and administration, report generation, and communication with employees, managers, insurance carriers, and medical staff

    • Will assist with Fleet GPS program and Motorist Complaints

  • Employee Benefits responsibilities

    • Assist employees with Health & Welfare benefits, including health insurance and 401(k)

    • Assist employees with managing their Paid Time Off (PTO)/Holiday/Jury Duty/Bereavement leave

    • Benefit Tracking – of Workers Compensation Claims, and Health & Welfare benefits, including health insurance, life insurance and other auxiliary benefits

    • Reconciliation of vendor invoices to company records to ensure appropriateness

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates Degree

  • 3 years of experience in an office setting, preferably in a Human Resources department.

PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, along with two to four (2-4) years of related experience in Human Resources or Workers Compensation/Safety department.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Computer knowledge of MS Office, with Word & Excel proficiency; other HR applications a plus

  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills, may be required to serve as intermediary between the benefits department, employees and external vendors such as insurance companies.

  • Must also possess exceptional interpersonal skills, as will be interacting with the entire employee population across affiliates.

  • Attention to detail and ability to see trends where issues might be occurring.
