Account Executive- Business Development __________________________________________________________________________________________________

Location: Towson, MD (Remote and/or flexible remote options available)

Position Description:

The primary responsibility of the Apex Account Executive (AE) is to develop a continuous pipeline of candidates leading to the acquisition of Apex Medical Physics Services. The AE must develop a rapport with new clients consisting of a broad spectrum including, but not limited to, Directors, referral sources, C - suite executives, purchasing agents, VA and government entities, and any other entity that may be related to the acquisition of Apex Medical Physics services. The AE is also required to grow and retain existing accounts by presenting solutions and services along with partnering to grow and develop upstream demand beneficial to both Apex Physics Partners and the customer. This requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the challenges faced regarding acquisition of medical physics services, the company’s competitors, along with the challenges faced by the end user, and the solutions/services the company can provide for each.

While the exact responsibilities may vary as dictated by the market and company needs, the main duties of the Account Executive can be summarized as follows:

New Business Development:

  • Prospect for and identify potential new Apex Clients for both for radiation therapy physics services and Diagnostic Imaging physics services
  • Call upon and facilitate meetings as appropriate within your market or geographic area
  • Meet with key decision makers and/or influencers to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Plan approaches, strategies, and execution plans for each prospect.
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements, and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Company’s vision and strategy.
  • Support the overall process of management and corporate decision-making to ensure the organization maximizes its short, medium, and long-term goals.

Business Development Planning:

  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns and services that will lead to an increase in sales.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Coordinate and take leadership in the multiple market channels required for success.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events, conferences, and customer events, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends as required.


  • Ensure the success of the company’s mission by meeting and exceeding assigned revenue goals.
  • Submit required reports and ensure data is accurate in the timeframe requested.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM or other sales management system.
  • Forecast sales targets accurately and ensure they are met.
  • Track and record current and future activity on accounts.
  • Work cross functionally with all departments and staff to ensure that company objectives and goals are met.
  • Represent the company in the best light.
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities.
  • Understand the company’s goals and purpose in to enhance the company’s performance.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and creativity to assure that the company’s goals and objections are continually achieved.
  • Stay current on all required training and service topics

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required and 3-5 years of sales experience in a comparative field
  • Medical background, Medical device/ equipment or Medical Physics Experience preferred (no diagnostics, service sales, or physician office pharma)

Other Skills and Qualifications:

Technical expertise, networking, persuasion, prospecting, public speaking, research, writing, closing skills, motivation for sales, prospecting skills, sales planning, identification of customer needs and challenges, territory management, market knowledge, professionalism, CRM, and Microsoft Office.


  • Travel requirements – Average expected to be 25-30% of total work hours within the assigned region
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as required.
