Job Description: Job Title: Strategy & US Business Development Reports To: Global Business Development Lead Dotted Line To: VP Environmental Express Position Location: Charleston, SC FLSA Status (Exempt/Non-Exempt): Exempt Position Summary: The Environmental Express US Business Development manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and consummating commercial, custom, and OEM opportunities, [e.g., product development and services projects] with key and target accounts. The role interfaces with technical resources within our company and selectively deploys such resources as adjuncts in a team-selling context meant to convince customers of the preferentially differential capabilities of Environmental Express. Key Responsibilities: Strategy: • Drive cultural change across direct and matrixed teams to unlock the full potential of the organization by developing a high level of colleague accountability and engagement with an intense focus on our customers, continuous improvement, inclusion and integrity. • Manage the product portfolio and the overall product life cycle including new product development. • Responsible for business development activities; identifying, analyzing and valuing potential acquisitions, partnerships, investments, licensing, and other strategic growth opportunites. • Drive alignment across functions and disciplines in support of the customer. Manage the business based on customer needs utilizing impactful operating mechanisms and metrics to measure and address business performance. • Identify, recommend, and champion actions contributing to making connections across Thermo Fisher in order to accelerate growth, including technology development, channel optimization, target customer segmentation initiatives, and business development focus. • Evaluate and strategically assess market conditions and perform detailed analysis of the market, including business, industry and competitor trends. Evaluate and strategically assess market conditions and perform detailed analysis of the market, including business, industry and competitor trends. Influence, direct and help develop Strategic and Annual Plan to drive profitable growth Co-develop and oversee the execution of marketing strategies to expand penetration and market segment share, both in core and white space segments Co-lead the global business strategy, plans, and budget development in collaboration with VP/GM; Global Business Development & Corporate /Strategy to ensure link to strategic 3 yr growth plan US Business Development: Take ownership of the Environmental Express portfolio in the US, become the point of contact for the Environmental Express portfolio. Represent company capabilities: technical development, operational/manufacturing/logistical, project management Represent customer requirements as Environmental Express evolves its portfolio Apply knowledge of Environmental Express’ portfolio and application to training needs of internal sales team, dealers and customers Creating and negotiating contracts with customers Ability to create proposals/quotes that address identified opportunities Work closely with Product Management & Research and Development team Proposing target customers, target applications, target geographies to pursue in conjunction with strategic plan objectives to achieve sustainable long-term growth and diversify product/service portfolio to address both current and emerging market needs Ability to develop business cases to justify resource investment against identified opportunity. Collaboration with Legal staff to create and/or respond to customer contracts, such as Master Service Agreements and Supply Agreements. Collaboration with Technical staff to understand available/pending capacity, as well as capabilities, to best represent Environmental Express’ ability (and timing) to partake in new projects. Collaboration with Technical and Business/Financial staff to assess cost and resource allocation for prospective projects. Collaboration with same to render price quotes to customers. Participate in New Product Development projects and new product launches Demonstrate the ability to deliver results within deadlines. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related. Masters degree preferred Experience: 10+ years’ experience preferred in Sales, Marketing, or Business/Market Development Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Demonstrate a knowledge of sales techniques using effective questioning and objection handling.Desirable attributes: strategic commercial mindset, natural project manager, confident communicator, detail oriented, curious, and creative, problem solver, quick learner, adaptableUp to 50% domestic and/or international travel Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, efficiently works under pressure, within deadlines or other time essential constraintsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate to all levels of the organization clearly and conciselyStrong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organization All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
