Actuarial Analyst II or III (Job Family) - Medicare
Preferred Location: Louisville, KY
Alternate Locations: Indianapolis, IN; Mason, OH; St. Louis, MO; Waukesha/Pewaukee, WI; Atlanta, GA; Richmond, VA; Virginia Beach, VA
Please Note: This position may be filled at either the Actuarial Analyst II or Actuarial Analyst III level. Manager will determine level based upon the selected applicant's skillset relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
Actuarial Analyst II
The Actuarial Analyst II completes projects and performs complex actuarial studies.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Support Underwriting of Group Medicare EGWP plans.
  • Obtains, verifies, analyzes and models data including risk reporting and forecasting.
  • Calculates monthly claims liability reserves, develops merit rating factors and prepares Department of Insurance annual statement exhibits.
Actuarial Analyst III
The Actuarial Analyst III completes very diverse and complicated projects and performs very complex actuarial studies.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Support Underwriting of Group Medicare EGWP plans.
  • Analyzes and implements risk contracts including conducting experience analyses, pricing, filing and settlement work; and prepares management reports supporting new capitation initiatives.
  • Assists in training of actuarial trainees, analysts and specialists.
  • Coordinates/directs special actuarial projects.
Actuarial Analyst II Qualifications:
  • Requires a BS/BA degree; required to have passed at least three Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) actuarial exams; at least 1 year related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Group Insurance, Medicare Advantage, or Pharmacy strongly preferred.
  • SAS, Excel, and Access are preferred.
Actuarial Analyst III Qualifications:
  • Requires a BS/BA degree; required to have passed at least four Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams; at least 3 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Group Insurance, Medicare Advantage, or Pharmacy strongly preferred.
  • SAS, Excel, and Access are preferred.
