Supply Chain Management Specialist- Job Description
The inventory control specialist has the primary responsibility of increasing and maintaining company profitability by maintaining accurate inventory levels. This position ensures that optimal inventory is present and ready to use. Maintaining good relationship with the current overseas vendors as well as souring new vendors is one of the important duties of the job. This position works with the management team to provide strategic insight and program management into our purchasing and operations processes, drive supporting analyses, and improve supply chain planning visibility and efficiencies; with the objective of continuously improving supply chain processes, reporting, productivity, and efficiency. We are seeking an exceptionally strong candidate to provide supply chain and inventory management, analysis, forecasting and modeling to support our global supply chain operations
Leads the inventory management team and serves as key member of the management team and influences sourcing, planning and logistics management in the translation of analytic insights into concrete recommendations; including demand planning, inventory reduction, back order reduction, reducing total delivered costs, eliminating waste, increasing cash flow, improving product turn, and/or decreasing cycle times to market.
Actively communicates with overseas suppliers by managing suppliers’ production, ship and arrival schedules to ensure shipments are received on time to minimize the back orders.
Establish, maintain, and assess inventory turn for each of the warehouse (distribution centers) using history, sales plans, vendor criteria, and market trends.
Conducts project/program management work on geared towards improving the overall order fulfillment process, from planning through to logistics.
Develops and/or provides fact-based, strategic and tactical cross-functional operational planning & forecasting performance metrics on variety of data across supply chain with the objective of delivering actionable information including the tracking of forecast-to-actual variances, identification and/or analysis of gaps, inefficiencies, and/or change management needs, and development of recommendations for the improvement in procedures, processes, and/or practices within the organization.
Identifies, develops, documents, changes and/or implements best practices in Supply Chain processes; leveraging existing intellectual capital and developing innovative concepts/methodologies for addressing/approaching major strategic issues.
Conduct departmental and one-on-one meetings to discuss performance, project progress and future plans
The ideal candidate possesses the following qualifications:
Bachelor degree required preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Research/Management or other related discipline
Import & Export industry experience is preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of experience with proven record of effective demand planning, inventory management, distribution, logistics and transportation in the retail/distribution industry
Experience with inventory control for perishable goods a plus
Strong quantitative analytical skills, business acumen and insight; with the ability to understand and synthesize data from various sources, work around data limitations, and form impactful judgments and insights Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Understanding of best-in-class planning processes with the ability to interpret complex data, leverage information for business decision-making, and develop/translate data into actionable recommendations
Exceptional communication, influencing and leadership skills in order to directly influence and lead cross-functional teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy in outputs
Excellent problem-solving, trouble-shooting, and project management skills/capabilities
Working knowledge of forecasting & modeling techniques and demand planning applications including demonstrated advanced proficiency with financial modeling concepts and tools such as those in the Microsoft Office suite
Demonstrated demand/supply planning background (including how demand/supply planning impacts other functions of the business) and experience in working supply and demand purchasing and logistics exceptions
Proficient in SAP
Solid presentation and written communication skills
