Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

A growing Palm Beach County nonprofit dedicated to enriching lives with nature, art and history seeks an experienced fundraising professional to strategically develop and steward relationships with private donors, members and corporate and grant partners. The Director of Advancement is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all of the organization’s fundraising including major gifts, annual fund, special events and capital campaigns. This individual works closely with the Managing Director and Board Chairman in a team-oriented approach to cultivate lasting donor relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Must embrace the mission of the organization and the culture of philanthropy in Palm Beach County.

· Strong interpersonal and writing skills.

· Display a positive attitude, concern for others and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence and humility.

· Experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising and grant writing.

· Ability to work with and motivate staff, trustees and other volunteers.

· Be a “self-starter” and goal-driven to initiate donor engagement with visits and calls for fundraising and donor relations.

· Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.

· Bachelor’s Degree.

· 5 years minimum experience in professional fundraising, preferably in South Florida.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· Work closely with the Managing Director and Board of Trustees.

· Create a multi-channel fundraising plan that includes annual support, major gifts, special events, planned giving, and capital campaigns (when applicable).

· Assist in creating both operating and capital budgets.

· Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors.

· Accountable for relationship management with prospective donors and supporters on a strategic basis.

· Oversee grant search including target research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.

· Ability to represent and defend grant proposals.

· Coordinate fundraising for special events.

· Oversee prospect research.

· Direct the annual fund program, including direct mail, emails, social media, and other marketing strategies.

· Help to build a planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.

· Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information with the community and national affiliates.

· Leadership of staff/board Development Committee meetings.

· Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.

· Assist with creation of marketing and promotional materials to support fundraising activities.

· Maintain gift recognition programs.

· Perform other related duties as requested including the ability to work some evenings and weekends for fundraising events and special programming.
