Our Portland office is seeking a highly creative and action-minded individual energized by being a part of complex projects from concept through construction with a strong interest in Housing Design. Your passion for design is matched by your ability to remain organized and track project deliverables.   • Manages multiple projects and develops work plans (budget/fee/schedule) for every project to help facilitate the successful and profitable completion of each project.
  • Works with Principal to determine project fees and write proposals.
  • Responsible for design concepts and production on interior design projects, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Oversees the research of finish and material selection and facilitates presentation documentation, furnishings plans, and finish presentations.
  • Leads design presentation, storytelling and mentors Designers on how to present a design.
  • Directly communicates with clients and is usually the primary client contact.
  • Provides QA/QC of project documentation. Ensures all documentation goes through the established quality control process.
  • Active leader in firm design initiatives.
  • Provides proactive mentorship to Interior Designer I and II with respect to business development, and the value of professional organizations and networking groups.
  • Supports business development activities through assistance with visual aids and actively participates in promotional opportunities in terms of strategy, preparations, and interviews.
  • Participates in inter-disciplinary collaboration meetings and charrettes.
  • Participates in industry panel discussions or knowledge–sharing events.
  • Actively works with AMA leadership to establish and/or implement firm initiatives.


  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Interior/Interior Architecture Design from an accredited school.
  • 10 years Interior Design experience with a background in leading Housing Design.
  • Proficient in REVIT, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, BlueBeam, Newforma, Smartsheet, Sketch Up, Enscape, AutoCAD, and Specsource.
  • Ability to complete a Project Manual and 3–part Specifications.
  • Thorough understanding of constructability and detailing of interior design elements as well as building codes and accessibility.
  • A management style and leadership skills that energize a team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Expertise in layout, color, lighting and materials selection.
  • Demonstrates a passion for interior design and actively works to have current knowledge of the factors influencing the practice and our client’s decision–making process.
  • Is creative, imaginative, and passionate about designing the built-environment.
  • Has identified a design passion and is working to incorporate this into firm initiatives.
  • Self-motivated with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Possesses the ability to create original concepts or visualize concepts developed by others.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment.
  • Possesses a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Is an engaging and thoughtful mentor.
