Essential Duties
Key duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Understanding and supporting the agency’s mission & treatment philosophy:
- Treats all children, families and co-workers with respect & courtesy
- Demonstrates and models sensitivity to cultural background of children, families and co-workers
- Honors Sanctuary Commitments in all day to day activities
2. Provides nursing care to multiple pediatric residents
- Treats all children, families and co-workers with respect & courtesy
- Accurate Physical/Emotional Assessment of patients
- Documentation of nurse findings in electronic medical record (Omni)
- Communicates with treatment team and parents as needed
- Identifies potential health and safety risks and communicates immediately with
Chief Nurse to resolve issues/concerns immediately
3. Documentation
- Documents nurse findings in electronic medical record (Omni)
- Documents medication administration in medication administration record
- Completes Staff injury report per Agency guidelines
- Provides input into the Daily Health Center report as requested
- Completes other documentation as requested

- Works effectively with others
- Flexible and accommodating in unplanned or crisis situations.
- Seeks and accepts help and direction when necessary
- Actively participates in team discussions; cooperates with work plans
- Works collaboratively with others on special projects as assigned
5. Safely manages all aspects of job responsibilities:
- Maintains a safe & hazard–free work area. Effectively monitors facilities & equipment for cleanliness and hazards. Informs Chief Nurse in timely manner.
- Identifies potential program risks and brings issues to the attention of the Chief Nurse in timely manner.
6. Attends non-mandatory Agency meetings/training as requested.
7. Supports overall strategic plan of the organization
8. Ability to adhere to our organization’s core values and commitments.
Work Schedule: 9:00 AM-9:00 PM (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
Essential Qualifications
Key qualifications include:
1. Registered Nurse, New York State Registered Nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) current certification.
2. At least three (3) years clinical experience with pediatric nursing or primary care in mental health or pediatric health setting. Residential experience preferred.
3. Description of general skill set: Professional demeanor; Strong oral and written communication skills. Safe clinical nursing and medication administration experience. Experience and sensitivity to diverse multicultural nursing population.
4. Specific skill set: Strong nursing clinical skills: physical/mental/emotional assessment skills of pediatric patients, including support of family. Experience with trauma preferred.
5. Ability to adhere to our organization’s core values. Demonstrated emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stressors.
6. Background in Pediatric and Family Nursing; Community Health; Patient-Family Relations (Customer Relations) preferred.
7. NYS Driver’s License
8. Ability to access and utilize ADP app on smartphone or other device.
