Licensed Mental Health Therapist / Medicaid Provider

Located in Auburndale, FL since 1974, Anchor House is a Faith-based group home which serves boys (age 10-17). Residents end up at Anchor House for many reasons. Some have been orphaned, abandoned, neglected, or abused; others are simply struggling to find their way in life. Referrals for placement come to us from the State of Florida or through private counselors.

Additionally, we offer transitional housing for young men and woman (age 18-24) who have aged-out of the foster care system. These houses are located in Lakeland and our goal is to add one per year.

Minimum Qualifications

· Licensed Clinical Social Worker in good standing or Licensed Mental Health Provider in good standing

· Possess and maintain a valid Medicaid Provider number

· A minimum of 1-2 year’s experience in counseling

· Experience with prevention or treatment of substance abuse preferred

· Experience with at risk youth preferred

· Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

· Have and maintain a clear MVR (motor vehicle record)

· Must be 21 or older for insurance purposes.

· Must pass and maintain a county of residence and federal background check.

· Should be able to demonstrate intermediate to advanced proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet functions, preferably Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher as well as general email and attachment functions.

General Functions

  • Work closely with all members of the treatment team in development of the Treatment Plan, including discharge plans and aftercare plans, based on psychosocial assessment, client interaction and accepted social work interventions.
  • Maintain Medicaid Provider status and stay up to date on Medicaid reimbursement.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records, including clinical progress notes.
  • Oversees and approves all provided services.
  • Provides individual and group counseling sessions in the areas of mental health, substance abuse and life skills.
  • Provides all services under the umbrella of Trust Based Relational Intervention [TBRI]
  • Supervises any mental health interns
  • Provides on call crisis intervention.
  • Participates in the placement and admission process.
  • Meets with each new resident within 24 hours of admission.
  • Adheres to all department/facility policies

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

· Must behave ethically and professionally

· Must demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills

· Working knowledge of clinic policies and procedures

· Experience completing assessments with clients

· Experience supervising unlicensed staff

· Knowledge and experience with evidence based practices, including trauma informed care and framework

· Knowledge and experience working with co-occurring populations (mental health, substance abuse, trauma) with emphasis on children and adolescents.

· Strong clerical administrative skills, including personal computer skills

· Ability to make decisions under pressure and handle client crisis situations.

· Strong problem solving skills

· Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ages, and economic backgrounds in a cultural competent and sensitive manner

· Appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.

· Must have the knowledge to care for patients in different developmental stages

· Consistent attendance and reliability to assure that all client’s needs are met.

Physical Requirements

· Independently perform (with or without accommodations):

o Possess auditory, olfactory, and visual skills.

o Exhibit manual dexterity and mobility.

o Walk and/or stand for long and extended periods of time.

o Lift and/or carry up to 25-50 pounds from floor to waist level or higher at least several times per day, and be able to carry the object for a distance of 6 feet.

o Handle, install, position and move materials, equipment, and supplies.

o Be able to physically intervene should an altercation commence between residents and de-escalation techniques have failed.

Cognitive Abilities

· Independently perform (with or without accommodations):

o Function in a structured environment within significant time constraints, make rapid decisions in urgent situations, and meet deadlines.

o Demonstrate good judgment and make appropriate professional and procedural judgment decisions under stressful and/or emergency conditions, emergent demands, and distracting environments.

o Demonstrate a willingness to assist with and perform a wide variety of procedures common to the residential care setting.

o Access information from books, reference manuals, computers, and paper and electronic medical documents to perform duties and safely and use equipment.

o Prioritize, organize, and utilize time-management skills to perform tasks.

Training Required

At least 40 hours annually of DCF, HFC and COA trainings.

Salary: Negotiable based upon education and experience

Expected Hours: 40 hours weekly / one weekend shift possibly required / on call schedule

Reports to: Assistant Director

All of our clients have been diagnosed with a mental, emotional, or behavior disorder. We have 15 - 20 clients and 20 - 25 employees. We are expanding and developing our program to be treatment based.
