Job Description

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

This position is responsible for providing analytical support to the process improvement and statistical process control activities of the plants. Ensures product quality by providing process technology expertise, managing process control and by leading product and process continuous improvement efforts.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Become expert in product and process technology and train/mentor others.
  2. Master relevant corporate procedures (best practices).
  3. Author and maintain local process standards and administer local practice compliance and help to train Best Practices, local standards and QA procedures.
  4. Ensure that critical material acceptance procedures are applied.
  5. Monitor Best Practice compliance and administer BP Gap Closure Action Plans.
  6. Define and implement process control plans and measurement control plans.
  7. Verify product sampling, testing, identification and traceability.
  8. Monitor product physical properties and adjust processes as necessary.
  9. Ensure Process and Product database integrity.
  10. Provide SPC, statistical tools, 6s, problem solving and root cause analysis expertise to the organization.
  11. Perform product scrap root cause analysis and develop/implement countermeasure action plans.
  12. Analyze Key Process Variable performance and develop/implement plans to improve statistical stability and capability.
  13. Propose, design, plan, administer and analyze plant-scale process improvement trials.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a combination of education and experience in the field.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of the engineering field with graphite and or anode battery experience; plus, the ability to work with a wide range of people in successfully achieving results.
  • Must have a minimum of two years manufacturing experience, prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must be available to work schedules as required, cross train as required, and be able to display proficiency in the technical aspects of the area assigned and/or successfully complete required tests.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office software and Windows Operating system. Familiarity with databases.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Basic presentation skills.
  • Proficient with Lean, Six Sigma, basic descriptive statistics, problem solving and root cause analysis techniques. Ability to attain Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) certification within a reasonable period of time.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 standards.
