GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will work to influence supplier qualification / certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews and makes recommendations on quality data and contributes to the development of part / supplier specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions.
  • Provides research on and explanations of root cause analysis & problem solving in escape management procedures. Makes recommendations for the development of corrective and / or preventive actions for systemic process and product design problems for product provided by suppliers.
  • Executes processes and procedures for supplier qualification / certification, source inspection and material release processes, as well as Correction Action Boards with suppliers.
  • Conducts activities to support for the AFSI continuous improvement environment.
  • Reviews processes and metrics and makes recommendations to ensure supplier is capable to meet all requirements for work transfer and process change management including PPAP acceptance.
  • Manages supplier quality issues through monitoring / escalation processes, escape management, processing of supplier submission of non-conforming material and supporting internal MRB processes.
  • Initiates part specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions.
  • Manages source inspection and material release processes.
  • Performs Escape management procedures, drives root cause analysis & problem solving (Red-X & 8D) and recommends corrective and preventive action for systemic process and product design problems for product provided by suppliers.
  • Analyzes quality data to identify systemic issues and develops supplier specific quality initiative strategies and addresses with key proactive quality tools (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, SPC, etc.), driving their implementation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a SQE in an Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Environment
  • 5+ Years of Machining Shop Inspection and Performing First Article Inspections
  • Working knowledge and experience with Inspection methodologies and Material Conformity Inspections
  • 5-10 years of FAI experience with AS9102 (FAI) Protocol
  • Hands-on experience or working knowledge of Special Processes (i.e., heat treating, welding, chemical processing)
  • Strong understanding of Engineering Mechanical Processes, Standard Drawings Conventions, Interpreting Drawing, Specifications, and GD&T
  • 5-10 years' experience hands-on experience with the ISO9100 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems Processes, especially in Production, Quality, and Logistics
  • Knowledge of, (or hands-on experience preferred), with FAA, DOD, ITAR, DFAR standards and regulations
  • Experience leading customer audits
  • Strong verbal, written and communication skills
  • Project management, time management, problem solving and organization
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and lead other team members.
  • Proactive with desire to improve organization performance
  • Familiarity with software development, testing, introduction and upgrades
  • Ability to make decisions and excel in situations characterized by uncertainty
  • Fluent level of English spoken and written

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a SQE in an Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Environment
  • 5+ Years of Machining Shop Inspection and Performing First Article Inspections
  • Working knowledge and experience with Inspection methodologies and Material Conformity Inspections
  • 5-10 years of FAI experience with AS9102 (FAI) Protocol
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to satisfy AFSI ITAR requirements.
