Job Description

Our client is an award-winning brand experience agency seeking an experienced and ambitious Account Director to drive the agency’s key accounts. 

Location:  New York City (flexible working arrangements; must be able to commute to New York City office).

Salary:  Starting at $95,000 annually plus bonus scheme (up to 20% of salary) and benefits; exempt/salaried position (depending on experience).

Who We Are Looking For:

We are looking for an experienced Account Director with commercial sense and the ability to strategically deliver excellent projects for our clients.

You’ll oversee your own account team and direct the strategy of various internal teams (video, graphics, content, creative, logistics and production) to conceive, plan and deliver exceptionally high standard communications projects for your clients, with a specific focus on delivering compelling content and messaging. Your focus will be to work closely with our Professional Services’ clients with a key focus on account development, client support and forward-planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Account Direction:

  • Head up several Professional Services’ agency accounts to drive successful client relationships and revenue within the account.

  • Support other key accounts across different industries.

  • Develop complex digital communication plans and online strategies that optimize audience engagement.

  • Propose to the client a range of technical and production solutions in line with strategy and objectives.

  • Lead on event strategy and creative solutions for all projects.

  • Lead on the account for industry knowledge and relevant strategy in developing their offering and solutions.

  • Demonstrate a true understanding of account development plans and forecasts for growth.

  • Manage the account team across your event portfolio including managing project progression where needed.

  • Lead on new client briefs and proposals for events within your portfolio.

  • Account management and development of client opportunities to expand our relationship.

  • Drive the Events team to maximize all potential revenue opportunities, including upselling opportunities throughout the event cycle.

Data and Reporting:

  • Quarterly account reporting on revenue, successes and other metrics and KPIs.

  • Financial reporting against resource, overheads and agency time.

  • Report to Senior Leadership on account revenue, forecasts and opportunities.

  • Report on upcoming resource requirements and identify areas of growth and investment for the accounts.

  • Data and reporting from all client events and campaigns to manage future developments in best practice for online solutions.

Strategy and Communications:

  • Develop innovative digital solutions for all virtual programs, across a multitude of channels.

  • Design complex campaigns for a range of client challenges.

  • Align with company objectives to define strategy, growth and creativity around services and delivery.

  • Attend industry events, networking events and industry shows to represent Cheerful Twentyfirst.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain excellent personal relationships with senior clients and external stakeholders

  • Strategic outlook with consideration for client objectives and online performance intrinsically written into every decision

  • Problem solver - curious in nature and able to independently offer solutions to problems

  • Analytical with a high attention to detail and able to spot trends and glean insights from raw data

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in account development in a communications or brand experience agency environment

  • Tangible examples of communication campaigns with reporting metrics and measurement of audience engagement and campaign reach

  • In-depth understanding of online audiences’ behavior, needs and changing trends

  • Proven experience for developing and managing strategic communication plans

  • Exceptional financial planning skills

  • Commercial awareness in industry and across wider business management areas

  • An awesome attitude that always finds possibilities and solutions

  • Strong understanding of broadcasting and technical production
