The Role:

As a Member of the Customer and Developer Engineering team you will light up software on new Ampere hardware. You will provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership to the top Cloud Service Providers in the world and demonstrate the value of Ampere hardware through system- and application-level design, development, analysis, system tuning, and optimization.

What you'll do:

  • Work engineer-to-engineer with some of the top Cloud Service Providers in the world to matchmake their services and demonstrate the value of Ampere hardware through system- and application-level development, tuning, and optimization
  • Understanding of the Linux kernel, the ability to patch kernels with key features, and evaluate the efficacy of these patches
  • Understanding the latest in cloud hardware CPUs, and how software interacts.
  • Performing analysis, benchmarking, and working with hardware architecture teams to ensure cloud software stacks utilize underlying Ampere hardware features and help translate this into business value.
  • Develop your knowledge and skills in the cloud software, especially cloud native, arenas
  • Working with product, engineering and support teams to convey partner and customer needs and feedback as input to technology roadmaps.
  • Share real world implementation challenges and successes that would simplify adoption and value from Ampere products. Contribute to best practice in the form of publications, conference presentations, and trainings

What you'll bring:

Required qualifications:

  • 4+ years of design, implementation, benchmarking, optimization, or consulting experience in applications or infrastructures.
  • 4+ years experience within specific technology domain areas (web front end applications, databases, data analytics, search storage, media/graphics, or machine learning)
  • Experience with performance profiling tools like sysstat and perf
  • Hands-on software development via application development, SRE, DevOps engineering, systems
  • Experience with cloud software stacks and virtualized, containerized, and native environments, such as NoSQL databases, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Hands-on software development via application development, SRE, DevOps engineering, systems administration, Network Administration, IT Security, Systems Architecture or other technical discipline using common languages such as C/C++, Python, or Java
  • Experience with Linux kernel development and analysis.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong team player

Preferred qualifications:

  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of the major cloud provider services.
  • Experience working with public cloud solutions across Software-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) markets.
  • Hands-on software development via application development, SRE, DevOps engineering, systems
  • The ability and interest to analyze, debug and resolve performance anomalies across the system and software stack.

Education

  • Minimum Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
