SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Sr. Procurement Lead – Jet Fuel, will be responsible for overseeing Jet Fuel and any other designated procurement categories within the organization. The ideal candidate shall have in-depth working knowledge and command of the management of all aspects related to Jet Fuel.

This individual will be asked to significantly contribute to the function’s overall strategy including continuous improvement initiatives in procurement and related areas/processes.

The role is instrumental in driving exceptional results for large-scale strategic procurement initiatives and will be responsible for developing strategic sourcing capabilities with respect to Jet Fuel and other specific commodities/categories.

The Sr. Procurement Lead – Jet Fuel:

  • will be responsible for all aspects related to jet fuel not limited to sourcing, consortiums, intoplane services, fees reduction, and exemptions, applying global category expertise including market trends, sourcing insights, and supporting case studies.
  • will oversee procurement processes related to different fuel management tasks, developing KPIs and vendor scorecards, and improving processes.
  • will lead negotiations and actively manage the contract review process acting as a liaison between different areas such as Legal, Risk Management, Flight Ops, Finance, and the fuel vendors.
  • will actively liaise with other business units, including Sales and Flight Ops to assure any changes affecting jet fuel are properly communicated and timely shared with fuel vendors.
  • will benchmark with other airlines regarding fuel management market best practices.
  • is expected to be dependable and make decisions at its level. Perform detailed analysis regarding any procurement initiative or demand. Lead teams and others and when necessary, regarding processes, sourcing, reporting, etc.
  • shall have project management knowledge and skills and shall integrate with Amerijet’s PMO area on new project development/sourcing.
  • may technically lead procurement professionals and be responsible for assigned processes, KPIs, or scorecards, mainly related but not limited to the jet fuel-related tasks.

This position may be preferably based at Amerijet’s corporate headquarters in Miami, Florida, with a hybrid schedule as an option.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

▪ Develops, deploys, and manages sourcing plans and strategies for Amerijet’s Jet Fuel needs and any other assigned category, required to support company operations and objectives.

▪ Lead contract negotiations, propose contract language, and present insights related to the contract’s improvements for the existing terms and conditions.

▪ Manage the contracts throughout their term, including disputes, renewals, or terminations.

▪ Continuous look for cost reduction opportunities, including but not limited to jet fuel, into-plane, landing fees, tax incentives per location, and fuel consortiums.

▪ Keeps the records updated and all involved areas fully aware of its contracted obligations.

▪ Manage/lead the RFX process and lead the contract implementation if requested (Project Management).

▪ Development of comprehensive domestic and international market analysis for the goods/services procured to drive the lowest total cost and maximum value to the company, maintaining knowledge of market trends including analysis of market drivers, cost structures, and technical improvements.

▪ Partner with user groups in the development and launch of procurement strategy timelines, cost and quality goals, and service levels, and guarantee effective internal client and supplier relationships.

▪ Develop and present business cases to support the decision-making process for new Bids and sourcing projects.

▪ Viewed as a procurement reference and go-to person by internal clients and suppliers; being a contributor and an expert on procurement topics for the development and implementation of optimum purchasing processes, procedures, methods, and systems.

▪ Oversee all processes and activities related to the jet fuel management/administration, including pricing management, fuel invoices auditing process, fuel accruals, new locations fuel setup.

▪ Manage strategic supplier relationships, including support of key supplier performance management systems (scorecards), implementation of consistent Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and associated supplier performance review schedules, and reporting of supplier performance against goals.

▪ Manage and drive transformation initiatives, such as major cost reductions, supplier rationalization, and cost reduction, and ensure purchasing actions are jointly developed, fully communicated, and correctly integrated into strategic plans, budgets, negotiations, and contracts.

▪ Maintain a competitive sourcing environment that is focused on continuous improvement and process efficiencies.

▪ Enforce Procurement Policy and Guidelines are followed and Amerijet is compliant with federal and international regulations and other laws and regulations that may apply at any time.

▪ Other duties as assigned by the Director of Procurement.


PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/MEASUREMENTS;

Establish strong, trust-based working relationships with the Director of Procurement and Amerijet’s leadership team.


Establish a strong relationship with customer(s) for the purposes of management, reporting, reconciliation, and auditing of all commercial aspects related to fuel as agreed in the agreement.


Support the Director of Procurement in: (i) developing and implementing processes, policies, procedures, and systems; and (ii) addressing some of the critical issues and opportunities facing the procurement area.


Be independent and lead the procurement process for the assigned tasks.


Delivery of assigned critical procurement demands as planned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:

An undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance or related area.

CPSM Certification or equivalent. If not a certified Procurement professional, it shall commit to obtaining the certification within 6 months after the start date.

Desirable Lean Six Sigma certification and Project Management.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Proven knowledge of the procurement process, RFX, contract language, negotiation, vendor and contract management, and project management.

Jet fuel tender process, price structure, IATA Fuel Supply Agreement, fuel consortiums, etc

ERP system (MSD365 is a plus).

MS Word/Excel/ PowerPoint.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

A seasoned procurement professional with a minimum of five years in a similar role in jet fuel purchase in the aviation industry of significant size, with proven previous experience in the procurement process, including tender, contract and vendor management, and exposure to indirect and direct spending, and category management responsibilities.

Management of vendor relationships, contract negotiation, and management and vendor scorecards/KPIs.

SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:

Strong business and financial acumen with excellent analytical skills are essential.

Mathematical ability: ability to perform simple and complex mathematical and statistical computations and calculations.

Microsoft Excel and data mining and analytics: Ability to perform data mining, and analysis, using pivot tables, vlookup, complex and professional graphics and other functions. Query’s and other more advanced knowledge will be considered a plus.

Microsoft Word + professional writing: Ability to manage contracts, including formatting. Write professional letters and other communications.

Microsoft PowerPoint: Ability to put together a professional presentation in a creative and consolidated format.

ERP and other systems: Proven experience working with ERP systems (MSD 365 is a plus). Sourcing and other systems is considered a plus.

Inter-personal relationship: the ability to deal and work with people and compromise diversity in views and opinions.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

Job is mostly office based sitting however may require some standing and walking.

Availability for some planned travel may be required to visit vendors, Amerijet offices/operations in other countries and attend trade shows.
