We are currently looking for an Operational Logistics Leader to lead projects encompassing range of operational performance, material handling and supply chain consulting activities. We are looking for someone in New York City and San Francisco. Arup is expanding throughout North America and we have Integrated Planning teams in Los Angeles, Seattle, Toronto, and Boston.
The Operational Logistics Leader role is incorporated into our Integrated Planning team, working on developing integrated transportation and operational solutions for cities, airports and other world class developments at multiple scales. In this role, you will lead project teams, supported by logistics and operations staff and a broad range of other experts, such as engineers and architects, to deliver operational solutions for new developments. Your specific responsibilities include:
Work with clients, keep them informed, seek feedback, listen to constructive criticism and praise, manage expectations and respond appropriately
Promote excellent quality of project work.
Represent Arup in the industry at high levels nationally and internationally, e.g. think tanks, standard committees and international conferences.
Ensure Arup competes effectively through a thorough understanding of external market conditions (method of procurement, fees, scope of service, conditions, and competitor benchmarks).
Lead proposal preparation and development of other Business Development collateral.
Be responsible for the recruitment, appraisal, performance, development, morale and motivation of staff in the logistics discipline.
Mentor and develop people, and promote continuing learning and improvement within the group and across the firm.
Assist in delivering Arup's commercial goals, including strong commercial performance of projects.
A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or a transportation, logistics or management-related field.
10 or more years of progressively responsible experience in logistics and/or operations consulting.
Established reputation in the professional community
Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to mentor junior staff
Record of successfully delivering projects within scope, schedule, and budget
Innovative leadership style and commitment to quality
Experience doing business development to help win new clients and saturate existing clients.
Excellent planning and organization skills, responding to a fast-paced environment.
Experience in discrete event simulation modeling a plus (e.g. Arena, Simio software etc.).
Ability to interpret architects' drawings.
Experience using AutoCAD or Revit drawings to undertake analysis of design including vehicle maneuverability testing.
