Job Purpose

The Chief Purser efficiently manages financial, revenue and guest administration service issues onboard and carries them out in a manner consistent with the company's high standard of service.

Duties & Responsibilities
• The Chief Purser must able to interact with all Front Office, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Deck and Engineering departments as well as all guests in a professional and friendly manner.
• Prepares daily and weekly financial reports onboard vessel.
• Manages, trains and coaches pursers and 1st pursers onboard vessel.
• Responsible for scheduling and crew berthing of Pursers office.
• Work with Microsoft Office, POS and PMS systems. (MXP experience a plus)
• Responsible for all banks onboard vessel.
• Responsible for all guests and crew accounts.
• Performs payroll functions for crew.
• Ensure proper vessel embarkation and debarkation functions are performed.
• Coordinate provision needs for vessel at select ports of call.
• Ensure behavior and performance supports the company's Mission; promotes year-round success of system
• Follow company values in responding to others in work situations
• Meet "standards for service" behaviors
• Use recovery steps to respond to others who are dissatisfied
• Make hospitality standards an important part of day-to-day duties
• Be a STEAM System example for others; sets example for values during times when there is conflict and stress
• Trains and completes certification for STEAM system of existing and new employees within 7 days of hiring
• Holds all employees and leaders equally accountable to meet technical, employee and leader standards
• Promotes STEAM system: reinforces performance at or above standards and coaches performance below standard
• Solicits feedback; takes action to continuously improve success of team
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
• Education:
o HS Diploma or Equivalent Require
o Bachelor's degree in related field required
• Professional Certification(s) or License:
o Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) - if applicable, and/or ability to obtain and maintain
o Valid Driver's License
o Copy of DD214, if Veteran status
• Skills & Abilities:
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be fluent in English
o Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a pleasant and professional manner
o Proficiency with MS Office applications and POS systems
o Ability to train and supervise employees
o Logically and independently plan, organize and complete work assignments
o Must maintain a neat, clean and professional appearance
• Experience:
o At least 5-7 years of experience in position with similar duties and responsibilities
o Cruise industry experience preferred
• Other:
o Must be at least 21 years of age.
o Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG including but not limited to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident/incident testing.

Working Conditions:
The majority of work is performed in a Marine environment in both indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions, along with a moderate to loud noise level.
The Marine operation is subject to varied wake and motion.
Positions both live and work onboard a vessel, on a rotational basis for consecutive port-to-port voyages during the regular season.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand and walk on nearly a constant basis; ability to work long hours each day
• Ability to bend, rotate and reach frequently
• Ability to carry, push/pull and/or lift materials weighing upwards of 50 lbs
• Ascending/descending stairs or ladders safely
• Ability to manipulate/handle/grip materials required to perform job
• Ability to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vessel
• Must be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job
• Must be capable of performing emergency duties as listed in the vessel's station bill
• Crew bed/bunk equipment are rated for 250 lbs maximum weight capacity per bunk.
