Job Description

Our Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's overall supply chain and logistics strategy and operations to effectively maximize process efficiency and productivity. Also, they play a crucial role in developing and maintaining good relationships with vendors, and distributors.

Critical Skills Needed:

Communication - Must be able to professionally communicate with all types of people via phone, email, face-to-face, and video conference. Clear and consistent communication with suppliers, vendors, and shipping contacts must be maintained throughout the procurement lifecycle. Communication must be proactive with strength in identifying potential issues/problems, resolutions, and opportunities.

Forecasting / Planning and Analysis - Must excel in the development and maintenance of various supply chain plans and strategies. This may involve coordinating and overseeing manufacturing operations such as processes and manning in order to effectively forecast orders and meet customer demands. Must optimize operational resources while identifying and executing cost reductions and inventory controls. Must be accustomed to using enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions and warehouse management systems (WMS) to ensure that forecasts and schedules align.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation and customer services
  • Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
  • Work with a team to collect daily, weekly, and monthly timeline sensitive data and clearly communicate that data to management team
  • Proactively identify potential issues or problems and effectively resolve any transportation, logistics, or customer issues
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and shipping contacts
  • Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
  • Arrange warehouse, manage shipping and receiving, and process shipments
  • Resolve any arising problems or complaints utilizing root cause analysis and corrective action procedures
  • Supervise, coach and train warehouse workforce
  • Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Maintain a complex understanding and comply with laws, regulations and ISO/OSHA/DOT requirements
  • Engage with employees to assist, monitor, and promote efficient and safe processes and logistics activities
  • Collaborate with supervisors and management team to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping
  • Communicate and negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and shipping contacts to maintain budget and ensure maximum profitability
  • Manage a small team of people ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics processes or changes and present to management team

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience as a Logistics Manager or equivalent position
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff
  • Proficient in logistics software and ERP's
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • BS in business administration, logistics, or supply chain management
  • Ability and willingness to work hands on in a high paced environment
