1. Your job will be to transcribe verbatim from audio recordings interviews, statements, reports and other law enforcement related materials. Candidates MUST have very good to excellent MS Word, MS Excel skills, type 60 wpm+, know MS Outlook or learn, have excellent English punctuation skills, excellent hearing. Knowledge of Quickbooks is a plus.
2. You will also sit at the front desk, answer phones, and learn to handle some administrative duties, such as keeping break room and supply inventory, light bookkeeping, setting up new clients or new independent contractors in our cloud-based transcription software (training provided).
Growth opportunity: We anticipate that the right person will be able to assume the duties of supervising a large number of independent contractors who work from home and to handle various other administrative duties as assigned. At this point, the opening may evolve into a salaried, management position.
Experience preferred: training or experience in medical transcription and/or court reporting, or those who have transcribed from audio or video recordings using a foot pedal and software are preferred.
(Our company does not do any medical transcription, but knowing how to transcribe the spoken word is very helpful. Our company is geared solely to legal and law enforcement subject matter. Clinical medical experience is not a qualification, and, in fact, is not helpful in any way at all. )
Candidates must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines, show flexibility and work well with others. There is opportunity for advancement.
The company provides an hourly stipend in lieu of health insurance, one week paid sick, seven paid holidays, and two weeks paid vacation. The office is casual dress, fragrance free. From time to time, some overtime may be necessary. MUST be U.S. citizen or legal resident and undergo state and federal criminal background checks (No record of arrest at all).
The position starts at $15.00/hr. with a $1.50/hr. health stipend after 90-day training and evaluation period. Sick and vacation accrue per hours worked (for 20 hours a week, sick will accrue to 2.5 sick days and vacation to one week). There are seven paid holidays. There is room for advancement.
