Responsible for providing group counseling and clinical services. Counselor I will demonstrate expertise in therapeutic interventions, treatment modalities and utilize evidence based practices. Counselor I will participate in Treatment team and provide service coordination as needed for patients. Counselor I will advocate and communicate with the Utilization Review department on all aspects of patient care. American Addiction Centers strives to ensure that all of our patients receive the most comprehensive care to address the issues that may impede their recovery.
Core Job Duties & Responsibilities
+ Coordinate patient orientation for all new patients.
+ Conduct patient belongings search when new patient admitted.
+ Complete rounds and security checks.
+ Participate and coordinate patient's daily schedule including treatment meetings, 1:1 counseling, group meetings, general security and curfew.
+ Provide support and encouragement to patients.
+ Assist patient to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths and weaknesses regarding recovery.
+ Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self- help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the recovering person's goals and interests. This will involve a collaborative effort including the patient, family and select facility staff.
+ Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in clinical programming and developing strategies to overcome those barriers.
+ Provide intervention, assessments (within scope of practice) and group counseling.
+ Initiate and provide family counseling services.
+ Provide clinical services to all patients as assigned by clinical manager.
+ Participate in weekly treatment team meeting and program staff meetings.
+ Ensure that all documentation necessary meet contract, licensure, accreditation and standards for services in a timely manner following the AAC's documentation policy guidelines.
+ Communicate efficiently with other departments to ensure the best care for patient.
+ Provide clinical services to outpatient and inpatient adult population.
+ Understand and abide by State Department standards, facility accreditation, AAC's policy and procedures.
+ Demonstrate dependability and adaptability with patients and staff.
+ Maintains confidentiality of patient and company information.
+ Abide by the standards of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines.
+ Assists in monitoring and managing patient community as a therapeutic milieu.
+ Intervenes in crisis situations to deescalates and resolves crises.
Education, Experience, Skills & Abilities (To include but not limited to the following):

+ High School or Associates; Bachelor's Degree preferred in Behavioral Sciences required (social work, counseling or psychology).
+ Alcohol and drug counseling certification or license.
+ Minimum of 1 year experience in a behavioral healthcare field.
+ Knowledge of utilizing electronic health record software and documentation.
+ Ability to read, write and interpret written information, type documentation, present information to groups and participate in meetings.
+ Valid driver license and insurable driving record (If driving a company vehicle or if driving personal vehicle for company business; refer to Guidelines for Driving Company Vehicles).
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hour
