Job Description

Ambience Community Servies LLC provides services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and medically complex needs.

We are hiring (Day shift) Full-time Direct Support Professional/Caregiver for our group home in Sherman, TX.

Working closely with our clinical staff to support therapeutic and behavioral plans, DSPs provide assistance and strategies to the individuals we serve to live as independently as possible. Transportation and support out in the community: medical appointments, and assist with daily living skills including meal preparation and help with medication administration are a range of benefits we offer the consumers living in our group homes. In addition, assisting with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing assist and redirecting agitated or aggressive behavior.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and assistance (activities of daily living including basic personal hygiene, grooming, feeding, meal planning/preparation, etc) to assigned individuals, in accordance with training, instructions, and established plans
  • Performing home management duties such as laundry, light housekeeping, cleaning, etc while maintaining independent living for individuals served
  • Administering medications and perform health tasks, as delegated/assigned by nursing staff
  • Ensuring self-help activities to promote independent living
  • Provide assistance with individual's emotional issues and provide support and solutions.
  • Foster positive relationships between individuals served and their peers
  • Reporting changes in individual's condition or family situation to management
  • Document support and assistance in accordance with record keeping requirements
  • Transporting individuals to scheduled activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Note: These positions will require a significant amount of individual personal care depending on the level of need.

Position Requirements:

  • High school degree/GED required or at least two years experience and completion of competency assessment
  • 21 years of age or older (Preferred)
  • Valid driver's license (in most cases)
  • Valid driving record in accordance to insurance policy (in most cases)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background checks
  • Ability to navigate a computer for electronic documentation and maintain record keeping
  • Ability to work in a group home, home-like settings as a team player
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel
  • Ability to meet physical demands of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and standing/walking for periods of time
  • Ability to appropriately respond and provide intervention during crisis or behavioral related situations
  • Must be willing to work alternating weekends and overtime. Variety of schedules available, including some split shifts.

Shift times

7:30am-7:30pm

2 week rotation

week 1= Monday, Tuesday, Friday

week 2=Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday

COVID-19 considerations:
Our employees wear masks during shift. We also have lysol and hand sanitizer on hand for sanitation. We take temperatures of both employees and residents throughout the shift. We update our infection control plan to stay current with CDC recommendations OSHA requirements.
