Amazon PR is seeking a highly-intelligent, high-judgment, self-motivated and creative public relations professional to join our global communications team in Seattle to support public relations initiatives for Amazon books. Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in 1995 as a bookstore, with the goal to offer the earth's biggest selection of books. Amazon started with books and they remain core to what we do. The books PR team works to inspire readers by making it easy to read more and get more out of reading. This individual will provide strategic counsel to our internal teams and work with media and external influencers to tell interesting stories. The candidate will have experience in managing complex projects and issues with the press, crave autonomy and ownership, and be willing and able to roll up their sleeves and get stuff done.
The right candidate will be passionate about books and working with consumers. They will have strong media relationships, experience developing and executing highly successful creative PR campaigns, and excellent communication and presentation skills.
In this role you will:
Act as PR business partner, creating and implementing strategic PR plans that drive awareness for the Amazon books team; including communications support for Prime Book Box, Kindle Unlimited, Prime Reading, the Amazon Editors, and Amazon Literary Partnership
Write press materials and messaging; pitch and secure top media, including print, broadcast and online outlets
Develop and strengthen relationships with key media
Support development and execution of events and media engagements, often working cross-functionally to execute book PR campaigns for key retail moments
Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges
Effectively represent Amazon as spokesperson
Help manage external PR firms as necessary
