Shift Supervisor - Packaging Department

Bilingual (English-Spanish) REQUIRED

Proficiency in Written English. REQUIRED

Basic Math Skills (must be able to use a calculator).

Comfortable with light computer work.

High School Diploma or GED.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Must work on weekends.

Available to work either afternoon or night shifts.

Lifting required, no more than 50 pounds, usually much less.

Forklift skills REQUIRED.

Metal Finishing Experience REQUIRED


1.) Identify orders to be packaged from the production yard based on management directions and transfer material to warehouse workstations using forklift or team-assist to push carts into place.

2.) Direct packaging teams to assemble bundles of material according to written instructions on travelers.

3.) Ensure each packaging team is occupied at all times with appropriate orders and are packing in an efficient manner.

4.) Conduct quality inspections of material as requested by both management and packaging crews. Quality training will be provided.

5.) Assist packaging crews with bundle assembly. This involves transferring materials safely and carefully from the production carts to the bundle assembly racks, cutting appropriate lengths of wood for the bundles as well as staging packaging materials throughout the bundles as directed by travelers.

6.) Inspect packaged bundles for accuracy of piece count, packaging methods and materials as well as correct strapping of the bundles for forklift protection.

7.) Complete packaging tickets accurately and record on travelers both the quantity packaged as well as listing with detail any non-conforming material.

8.) Stage packaged bundles via forklift in the designated stations and/or load outbound trucks per management instructions.

9.) Standard shift is 8 hours, overtime is typical. Regular shifts will either be 2:00 PM – 10:30PM or 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM. Typical workweeks are ~5 days per week, sometimes 7 days per week depending on workload.

10.) Supervisors must keep track of packaging crew breaks and lunch periods as well as ensure all personnel follow safety guidelines at all times.
