Job Title Executive Director
Reports to Board President and is accountable to the Board of Directors
Job Purpose
The Executive Director will have a passion for the mission and vision of CATRA while ensuring the well-being of the population it serves. The Executive Director will be a collaborative leader who cultivates change and strategic growth. S/he will be a self-starter with a results-oriented work ethic.
S/he provides operational management for CATRA’s mission/vision execution, strategic planning, personnel, programs, and budget. The Executive Director leads the ongoing resource development to ensure financial viability and growth.
Duties and Responsibilities
MISSION/VISION AND STRATEGY
• Ensures programs and services align with CATRA’s mission and reflect the priorities of the Board.
• Facilitates the continued development and implementation of a strategic plan to lead CATRA to achieve its vision.
• Develops strong volunteer leadership for the facility and programs.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with private, professional, local, state, and governmental agencies.
• Communicates effectively with the Board by providing timely and accurate information and reports necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
• Assists the Board of Directors to identify and implement appropriate training for the ongoing development of its members; assists the Board in the identification and development of new members.
• Assists the Board in the review, amendment, and documentation of Board policies and by-laws.
ORGANIZATION OPERATIONS
• Oversees and is responsible for all of CATRA’s operations and programs.
• Initiates, maintains, and strengthens CATRA’s relationships with stakeholders, including riders, families, volunteers, donors, sponsors and others, as needed.
• Staffs Board committees and provides data and information as needed to inform decision making.
• Ensures that all employees and volunteers receive appropriate and adequate training to carry out their assigned responsibilities.
• Ensures that CATRA operates in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and that appropriate insurances, licenses etc. are maintained.
• Develops and executes a marketing plan to grow CATRA’s visibility through media channels, promote the riding program, hold speaking engagements and grow relationships with local organizations.
FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE AND VIABILITY
• Develops and manages CATRA’s annual operating budget and works with the Board of Directors’ Finance committee to prepare the annual operating budget for Board approval.
• Works with Board Treasurer to prepare monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors and adheres to 501(c)3 regulations and financial review/audit requirements.
• Works with the Board to ensure adequate funding for CATRA’s operation.
• Researches funding sources, oversees the development of fundraising plans, and writes fundraising proposals for CATRA.
• Develops and maintains fundraising activities involving both existing and new donors; Identifies and implements “best practice” fundraising protocols.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Professional Qualifications, Training, Experience
• A bachelor’s degree in business or human services or equivalent experience.
• Five years of consecutive experience in a non-profit management position.
• Experience supervising staff.
• Experience in the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
• Proven fundraising experience and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector.
• Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and networking skills.
• Working knowledge of CRM’-s, social media, and general website maintenance.
• Significant knowledge of technology and computer related functions.
• Self-starter, results oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be available for occasional evening and weekend events.
